2020 Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release: Have your say

Consultation is now open on potential areas.

The consultation process is an opportunity for you to comment and provide feedback on potential areas for release and highlight how exploration activities in these areas may impact you. Submissions will be considered by the government when determining which areas are made for available for bidding as part of the 2020 Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia, the Hon Keith Pitt MP announced the acreage release will be business as usual and is key to providing new exploration and investment opportunities for the resources sector. Reducing the COVID-19 threat: regulatory approaches

When the potential risk of COVID-19 emerged in Australia, NOPSEMA responded quickly with proactive measures to regulate the offshore resource industry.

NOPSEMA has prioritised regulatory activities to ensure specific, COVID-19 related health and safety needs of the offshore workforce are being met, while working across government and with industry and to help maintain essential offshore oil and gas services.

2020 reviews of NOPSEMA and NOPTA

Reminder - the approach to market closes Monday 11 May 2020

The department seeks the services of an independent consultant to undertake the legislative five-yearly reviews of NOPTA and NOPSEMA. The 2020 reviews will be conducted to ensure the organisations are meeting their objectives and are contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of Australia's offshore petroleum and greenhouse gas regimes.
