Opening Prayer
O God, whose blessed Son Jesus is the good shepherd of your people: Grant that when we hear his voice we may know him who calls us each by name, and follow where he leads; who, with you and the holy Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Let’s reflect on what Saint Patrick’s means to us. It is our community of faith that informs our outlook on everything else in our lives. Many of us have found community, joy, meaning, and grace, among many other things. For most of us, this relationship has been a blessing and an important part of our life and who we are.
Saint Patrick’s is a beacon of light to the community; and we share in that. We are each moved in different ways by this experience. For many, this is deeply personal, as well as, communal. We are part of something bigger than ourselves, something that makes the world a better place, and which touches the lives of many outside the Church for the good.
There is no guarantee that Saint Patrick’s will be here to meet the needs of future generations to spread the good news and be part of the healing of the world, our mission in Christ. Let’s do our part to help continue the story of our parish, as we are each called to help this ministry thrive and to endure in this time, and after we are gone.
Please read below to learn how you can participate in making sure that our ministry at Saint Patrick’s will flourish now, and ongoing, with the saints and times to come. A very special legacy!
May the Peace of Christ be with you,
Priest Doyle
Rector of Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Kenwood CA.

PLANNED GIVING MINISTRIES MESSAGE
The Continuing Story
When we think about what matters in our lives no doubt family and friends come to mind. Perhaps our work, our careers brought great pride and satisfaction, perhaps travel and our hobbies.
When we reflect on our lives and think about what mattered, and what brought us joy, does our faith come to mind? How much does our faith matter, and how does our faith inform and guide our lives?
Those of us who attend St. Patrick's have found and expressed our faith and found meaning, and community, and grace here, at St. Patrick's in the Valley of the Moon. For over 40 years our church has been the Beacon of Light for its members.
We are part of the community of faith, some of us for many years, and some for just a few. Some stay because of the priest, some for the ministries, some the location, or for a combination of those reasons, or for all together other reasons.
Something about St. Patrick's moved us. Something that you can name, or perhaps only feel. The call to St. Patrick's is deeply personal and has had meaning in our lives.
Yet it is not guaranteed that St. Patrick's will be here to meet the needs of future generations of seekers.
It is up to us, here, now, to help to continue the story of our church! The legacy of St. Patrick's is more than what it is in one moment of time; more than any one priest, more than any one generation of parishioners.
We are called to help preserve the work of the church by assuring St. Patrick's and its ministries are here for future generations so they can experience God's love as we do, in our special church.
A way to care for what we value is to leave a gift in your will, trust, or estate plan. If you value the gifts you have received from St. Patrick's, and want to see it continue to serve as a Beacon of Love, Light, and Compassion for others coming after, consider making a Legacy Gift.
The Planned Giving Ministry members include Laurie Boone-Hogen, Chair, Stephanie Chapralis McCaffrey, and Ann and Alec Peters.

Covid-19 Response Update
Our Presiding Bishop's Legal Counsel described the leading health organizations' recommendations for reopening. She said, "all states should not reopen until:
1. There is a sustained reduction in cases for at least 14
days.
2. Hospitals can treat all patients without a crisis standard of
care.
3. All states have the ability to test all people with symptoms.
4. All states have the ability to monitor all cases and trace
their contacts."
- Bishop Megan says she knows parishioners are eager to return to church in their buildings.
- The Bishops are talking about reopening.
- They are making plans to return to in person worship with these rules - all people will be 6 feet apart and wear masks.
- The Diocese is working on a reopening tool kit.
- The reopening dates will probably be regional and not Diocesan wide.
More information to come. Stay tuned. We will keep you posted.
Stay safe!!!

April 7, 2020
DEAR All !!!!!
Mission accomplished - Praise God! This afternoon our team of Joy, Gordon/Karen, Dennis, Hutch, Xavier, Pam/Larry, and driver, Saul, loaded vehicles for 73 families (all time high count!) which means 286 people!

The REFB truck arrived early. That allowed us to set up early and open shortly after 4:00 (well ahead of our advertised 5:00 opening!) We think that avoided the crush of backed up cars (as on March 17) for which we had contingency plans that didn't need to be implemented! There were even a few lulls in distribution!!
Absolutely for sure - REFB pre-boxing made a HUGE difference! The little else that needed bagging allowed us to move cars quickly! Sadly, we had at least 5 cars that had to be turned away by 5:30 (our closing time is 6:00!) because we were out of food.
Everyone had protective gear (masks, gloves, etc) and did a great job keeping "social distancing!" I saw NO IRRITATION AND NO FRUSTRATION in volunteers nor clients! Glad to frequently hear laughter!!!!
Sure enough, some clients couldn't open their trunks, one had 5 zillion kids in her car! There were some misc other "glitches", but everyone remained positive and smiling (which we had to hear through voice; masks covered faces!)
At our debriefing, there were a few suggestions for April 21. We agreed that coming at 3:30 is beneficial. Our sign our on Hwy 12 still says we'll open at 5:00 - but we'll start as soon as we're ready.
The team that worked today worked well together and all want to come again April 21. Please forgive me for allowing that. I am well aware that we have many other very committed volunteers. Don't consider this a "moratorium" on your future participation. You will be needed.
Thank you, again, to those who contributed to today's planning. We were prepared for much that we didn't need! That's a good thing!
As I said in a previous email, I will keep all of you informed on what's happening. Please let me know if you are open to being a sub, should someone not be able to volunteer April 21, as happened today!
 Eleanor
