The effects of a Covid19 shutdown has wreaked havoc on our friends in the Dominican Republic. Like here, business has been shut down and there is a curfew in the city to keep people at home. Before coronavirus, unemployment rates were already quite high, but because of this, it has skyrocketed. Because there are no trips scheduled for the foreseeable future, the mission staff (Kitchen crew, cleaning, security, bus drivers, translators, etc...) have no income and as was mentioned today, John Powers told us that in the 30 years he's been going to the DR, he's never heard so many requests for help from people in the Dominican.
Because the need is so great and because we believe we are called to support our brothers and sisters in Christ, Liberty has agreed to a $15,000 dollar-for-dollar donation match!
If you've been around a while, you know that 100% of these funds go directly to people in need. There is no overhead costs or admin fees that take any portion of the money. It ALL goes to those who need help the most.
