Join me on a visit to my studio in Erector Square in New Haven. Get a sneak peek at a new group of paintings I am working on and see the paintings in different stages from initial sketch to completion. I will discuss my artistic goals with this new body of work and my conceptual and technical struggles. Learn about the process and tools I use to put together a painting of a big group of figures using only my imagination and a couple models—including structural drawing, photography and maquettes.

Get a start on drawing with an online class designed specially for the at-home artist. The class will give an overview of why we draw and a clear process of looking and drawing that can be used both for simple objects and more complicated subjects. This month will focus on how to get started with a new drawing, including choosing a subject and blocking in. Students will get individual coaching on their work. Only $100!

Watch online demonstrations of how to observe and render interiors (like your apartment!) in perspective. Start your own drawings at home and get personal online interactive coaching to improve your work and get answers to your perspective questions. If the students are comfortable with sharing, drawings and critique of each student’s work will be shared with the whole class to cover a broad range of perspective topics and challenges.

Introduction to Portrait Drawing

REGISTRATION OPEN WEDNESDAY!
Learn the basics of drawing the head from a variety of angles from the comfort of your own home in this online class which will include interactive demonstrations and lectures, critiques, and coaching. Students will work on their own portrait drawings independently and then review them with the instructor in group critiques. Students can work from photographs, from their own image in a mirror, or from a live model—if you have a willing participant in quarantine with you!
