New Principal!

We have a new principal!  Dr. Stephanie Hood, current principal of Charlotte Mecklenburg Virtual High School, has been transferred to North Mecklenburg High School.  Dr. Hood should assume her new position within the next few weeks and will be contacting North staff and parents during this time to prepare for her transition.  Please make sure to welcome Dr. Hood to the North Viking family when you have a chance to do so!  

Grades

Grades and grading are very confusing.  Please contact your student's counselor with questions! 

This is the latest information from the state on grading policy for all grades.  CMS is set to announce any changes or additions to this on Monday, May 4.  We will send out an update as soon as we have additional information.

Got A Graduation Idea?

Superintendent Earnest Winston has convened a task force to look at alternatives to in-person graduations. (In-person graduations have NOT been officially cancelled yet.)  Seniors, parents, teachers, principals and central office staff will look at alternative to traditional graduation ceremonies and bring the school board recommendations for "a meaningful ceremony that's still safe" on May 4.  To submit ideas, email Damon1.willis@cms.k12.nc.us

Editor's Note:  I have been involved in the PTSA for 6 years and have enjoyed meeting new people, helping a school I love so much, and getting to know teachers and staff.  Many tasks can be done on your own schedule and at home.  Some positions require a few hours every month, and others are more seasonal/one-time.  There is only one in-person meeting per month.  Ask for details!

Census 2020

Make sure you are counted!  The US Census can be filled out quickly online, and is anonymous.  https://my2020census.gov/

IB and AP Tests

International Baccalaureate tests for 2019-2020 school year have been canceled.  See here for details.

North Facilities Closed

CMS parking lots are closed for vehicle parking and playgrounds and school properties are closed to all citizens, unless related to grab and go meal distribution or student instructional materials or devices. The mandatory order includes no pets allowed on school properties and playgrounds.
