This month, like the rest of you, we will be easing back into a more normal routine with the guidance of our health officials. Since March, we've been managing our lives and work in new ways and we are happy to report that through the Covid-19 crisis, we've been able to remain open and providing services and support to victims of
domestic violence in our local community.

The new normal may never look exactly how it used to, but we are confident that we will emerge stronger and more vigilent as a result of what we've learned together
through this crisis.

We do have some great things to look forward to and to celebrate this month.
Thank you for supporting us! :-)

Local Muralist Gives Back

Thank you to local artist, Blake Harrison, for donating the new mural in the Child and Youth area at Peaceful Paths Outreach Office. The mural, with bold colors, geometric shapes, and silhouettes of children, is designed to encourage and welcome children into the space. Blake has painted murals in Gainesville for over twenty-five years.

We'd also like to recognize our new Child and Youth Program Coordinator, Crystal Sorrow, who spent much of the last few weeks painting Suite B and setting up new play and learning spaces for the children we serve. Blake and Crystal, we thank you and the children will LOVE the new space!

Once we are back to having the public in our Outreach Offices, we'd love to invite anyone from the community to visit our campus for a tour. Just call our Outreach Office at 352-377.5690.

Virtual Volunteer Recognition

Well, April has come and gone, and with it, National Volunteer Month!  Our creative Volunteer Coordinator, Lorna Bouret, was not going to let the month go by without finding a way to celebrate our wonderful volunteer supporters.  She coordinated an interactive Volunteer Zoom Meet Up and it was great to see both interns and volunteers show up with smiles and eagerness to reconnect!

As we ease back into more public traffic at our Outreach Center toward Mid-Late May, we will update you via social media, our website, and email when we will be welcoming back our volunteers!  We miss and appreciate you very much!

If you are interested in volunteering, please visit our website and fill out a volunteer application.

You can also email Lorna directly at volunteer@peacefulpaths.org if you have any questions about volunteering at Peaceful Paths.

What we Accomplished in April-TOGETHER

The month of April was full of challenges and new opportunities as we learned to work, socialize, serve, and operate in new ways.  Our Staff, Leadership, Board, Clients, and Community Supporters never missed a beat!  With a streamlined  or and or redesigned schedule of shifts, client services, and operating hours, we were able to minimize headcount in order to keep both staff and our clients safe. We learned to meet virtually through technologies new to many, and we adapted just like many of you have!  We managed to continue operations and service despite the rescheduling of our major fundraising event, the cancellation of several third-party fundraisers, and the reduction in donations being received in the month of April.  We were able to see this through because we did it TOGETHER.

With your help, we raised over $3,000 with the
Amazing Give Relief Campaign , which is ongoing through May.  We also received numerous donations on our website, many of which came from first time donors.  We continue to receive boxes of pantry donations, cleaning supplies, and gift cards through the mail and at our Outreach Office. THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who helped us continue to serve survivors and their children in this uncertain time.  We have added text helplines (352-727-0948 and 352-316-9958) and are using FB messaging as alternative methods for survivors who may not be safe to call during stay at home time. Our mission to save lives and create change has not been interrupted, and we appreciate your support. As our services resume to more normal levels and methods, we will send updates and ensure survivors can find us as needed.

Announcing our May Virtual Fundraiser

(May 29-31, 2020)

MAKE A DIF-FUR-ENCE!
Six Feet Walk (4 Paws + 2 Feet)
A Virtual Event to support SURVIVORS

This is an event everyone can participate in regardless of whether you have a 4-footed companion or not! If you support survivors, this will be a great way to show it and you and your furry friend (s) can enjoy some fresh air and a stretch of the legs for a good cause! Thank you to local Eastside HS Student Elizabeth Thomason who is our event co-coordinator.

We're borrowing this great idea from our sister shelter, Harbor House, in Orlando who recently re-imagined their annual Paws for Peace Pet Walk into a virtual 6 feet walk!  Like Harbor House, Peaceful Paths is one of only a few  DV Centers in the state that allows victims to bring pets with them to shelter. Many victims find it hard to leave their pets behind so many won't seek shelter, despite the potential dangers. Peaceful Paths is proud to offer this service and remove that potential barrier.  We thought since we are already social distancing, that the SIX FEET WALK would be a great way to include our four-footed friends in on the FUNdraising!

WHAT IS THE SIX FEET WALK?
A virtual event where you and your furry friend take a walk in support of Survivors and show your stance against intimate partner violence.

WHERE WILL THE WALK BE HELD?
You pick the location! You can walk in your neighborhood, around a park, on a trail, on the beach (if yours is open), on a track---get creative, but remember the six-feet rule! :-)

WHEN IS THE WALK?
May 29-31--One of the benefits of going virtual, is flexibility! You get to pick the time over the weekend that works with your schedule. Hopefully, by the event weekend, some of you will be participating from your favorite beach locations.

HOW DOES THIS HELP?
We're glad you asked! Fundraising events help in three ways.  1) You help us raise money for our cause. 2) You help us bring awareness to our mission and services. 3) You publicly advocate for survivors.

THIS SOUNDS FUN. HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
1) Buy our limited edition SIX FEET WALK T-shirt to show your support for survivors. T-shirts are onsale HERE May 1-May 10 to allow for shipping to your home by your walk. The T-shirts are print on demand and will all be printed and shipped in order to be received by event date.  Wear your T-shirt when you compete your walk to show your participation!

2) Host a Facebook Fundraiser. FB Fundraisers are easy to set up and a great way to share your support of our cause with your network.  Funds get direct deposited directly to us. Click HERE to set up your fundraiser.  You can start your fundraiser today and have it run through Memorial Day. Make sure to tag us in your post!

3) Take the SIX FEET WALK of support with your pet, borrowed pet, or invisible pet. Please wear your T-shirt if you bought one. We'd love to have you snap a picture and share in your social media feed and tag Peaceful Paths so we can virtually enjoy your support and we have some fun prizes too! T-shirt Purchase LInk:
