Update of Cochrane's Conflict of Interest policy

Cochrane is planning for the revised policy to come into effect on October 1, 2020. While implementation was originally planned for July, the Governing Board and Project Team has decided to delay policy launch until October. Before the policy comes into effect, there will be opportunities for Cochrane Review Group (CRG) editorial team members, authors and other Cochrane members to learn about the policy and how it may affect their Cochrane activities.

Impact

In April we were excited to see a blog post written by cardiologists Will Watson and Harry Boardman highlighting the work of our authors, in Cochrane review Transcatheter aortic valve implantation versus surgical aortic valve replacement for severe aortic stenosis in people with low surgical risk.

The review question looked at whether a transcatheter approach compared to open‐heart surgery for aortic valve replacement improved outcomes in people with severe aortic stenosis, concluding that there was little or no difference in the risk of death, stroke or heart attack in the short term.
