The Mini-Messenger

As I said in my sermon last Sunday, this time of being exiled from communal liturgies could be an important and positive experience for some people, helping them take ownership of their own Christian practice. One of our college students, Dylan Gunn, is doing a class project on just this issue, and invites Emmanuelites to respond ( by May 2) to his brief survey on how we Episcopalians are practicing our faith while sheltering in place: https://forms.gle/2iKgowtrW6fmLRUx7 I enjoyed filling it out and I think you will too.
This Week's Highlights
BISHOP'S "VISITATION"
Normally Emmanuel's annual visitation from Bishop Martins would have taken place this coming Sunday May 3. We were looking forward to his confirming or receiving several of the 13 participants in the Inquirers Class Fr. Caleb has been leading this spring, but that will have to wait! However, the Bishop will preach our video homily this week on Facebook. In addition, our Choirmaster has put together a special playlist  for the occasion (read his commentary here)  - and watch for more musical surprises from Emmanuel over the weekend.

HATS OFF TO GRADUATES
If you or a family member is graduating this spring, we would love to include their name, degree received, and future plans in the June Messenger; please share them with Mary in the office!

PRAY WITH US VIRTUALLY

In addition to the Daily Office continuing in homes, occasional posts of hymns and reflections, and our Bible studies and inquirers class meetings, Emmanuel has several regular times of worship we urge everyone to take part in. YouTube and Facebook liturgies and homilies are all publicly available anytime on our main pages. Access both our Zoom Compline and our Zoom Evening Prayer here.  Or call in on a regular phone at 1 312 626 6799 and enter Meeting ID 208 217 0000 and Password 61820.

YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!
We cannot overstate how grateful we are to several parishioners who have prepaid their pledges or made special offerings over the past month. God has encouraged us greatly through these gifts. If you feel called and able to join in, you can mail a check to the office, donate via Paypal or Breeze on the GIVE tab of our website, or make a donation on your phone -- use the Breeze app or text GIVE to (217) 262-6464. Your support is what enables continued mission and ministry at Emmanuel.
