Dear Hope Families,

Another 6 weeks of Distance Learning and then what?  We still don’t know whether we will be able to offer face-to-face summer classes until we hear more from our Governor.  We are certainly hoping to be able to make decisions by the beginning of June.

I have already been thinking about what the fall will look like too.  I think we can all agree that until there is a vaccination for the COVID-19 virus, things will not go back to normal.  There has been no official word from the state or district yet, (I wouldn’t expect there to be) about how to return to school safely in the fall, but it may be radically different.  I’m enclosing some ideas that are being discussed by education leaders and officials across the country. 9 Ways Schools Will Look Different When (And If) They Reopen  This article gives you a glimpse of what some changes may look like.  Probably the most drastic idea is to think of scheduling alternating days of meeting at school, with a home day so only half the amount of students in a class would be present on any given day.

I think it’s helpful for us to start visualizing how school may be different so we can prepare our brains for a different way of thinking as much as we’ll have to prepare for changes to our facility, schedules, and procedures to keep everyone safe.  Somehow, we’ll do this!

Please take care!  Have a Happy School Spirit Week - I’ve got Panda Pride!

Put a Panda in your Window!

Our spirit is showing!  Hope Families all over are putting a panda in their window during the quarantine to show our school spirit for Hope Chinese Charter School!.  If you don’t have a stuffed panda, your child could make or draw one out of paper or paper plates!  I hope to see your panda when I’m out walking!  See what some of our students are doing!
