April 2020

We have officially survived seven weeks of working from home (gasp!). Somehow it seems like we've been here forever, yet at the same time April zoomed by (pun intended)

Sign up at mayisbikemonth.com and get to pedaling and promote the goodness that bikes bring. It seems  Sacogians out there are taking it the extra mile and might even bring donuts or another sweet treat if you beat their pledges or join them on a ride!

One-Banana-Banana-Muffin Recipe

Do you have just ONE banana sitting lonely on the counter getting riper and riper as the days get warmer? This recipe is for you!

Banana Muffins
1 ripened banana
1/4 cup of sugar (if you like sweet,  do 1/3)
1 egg
1 tbsp + 2 tsp of oil
1 tsp of vanilla
1/2 cup of flour (a little overflowing)
1/2 tsp pf baking powder
1/4 tsp of baking soda
Pinch of salt
Cinnamon (about 2 tsp, but more if you'd like)
Chocolate Chips & Chopped Walnuts (as much as your heart desires)
  1. Mix together the smashed banana, sugar, egg, oil, and vanilla
  2. Add in all the dry ingredients
  3. Mix in the chocolate chips and nuts
  4. Add to a muffin tin (will make about 4 med/large muffins)
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 mins
  6. Enjoy!
STAYING HEALTHY

Mental Health

As we go through another month, please make sure to pay attention to your mental health. Fatigue, tiredness, and full on exhaustion can seem weird if you technically might have taken it easy, but remember: we are not just working from home, we are trying to work from home during a pandemic. It's scary, it's exhausting, and our brains are on overdrive to trying to make sense of the news, the artificial zoom calls, and everything else life brings. So it's okay to give yourself permission to just be.
  • Headspace - mediation app (free during the pandemic)
  • MoodKit - mood improvement activities for self-awareness and healthy attitudes
  • What's Up - cognitive behavioral therapy app for stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Calm -  for sleep, meditation, and depression
  • Still remember to take your breaks
  • Let Erik know if you need anything!

SACOG Challenge

Do you have a fitbit? If so email Rosie and be added to weekly step challenges starting May 4! Join other Sacogians that are stepping up and help motivate each other move!

More weekly challenges to stay moving throughout the next month:
  • Week 1: 10 squats every time you go to the restroom
  • Week 2: 10 jumping jacks every time you have a snack (so you know about 100)

  • Week 4 10 lunges after you log off your computer
If you really want to take it up a notch, try all four!
