April 2020

After a month of staying at home, we thought we'd share some ideas to bring the world to your sofa (or garden deckchair in this lovely weather) and help train up the Game Rangers, Marine Biologists and Hoteliers of the future at the same time.  From the Indian Ocean to Africa and Asia, scroll down to find out how it's still possible to have far-flung destinations in your life even when you can't take to the skies. We also are launching a very unique competition....

Do follow us on Facebook, or Instagram to keep in touch with news in these extraordinary circumstances, where we will bring you updates and ideas of how travel might look in the months and years to come.  In the meantime, with families at home together, perhaps now is the time to plan that 2021 bucket-list adventure.

We leave you with this wonderful quote from Mala Mala Game Reserve in South Africa who have also created some great wildlife videos entitled ' Rangers in Isolation' whilst the photo above is taken at one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I've ever been blessed to stay, Delta Camp in Botswana.  Our thoughts are with all the amazing guides and staff at at hotels and lodges around the world, who look after our intrepid Bushbaby travellers so well, we'll be back as soon as we can.....

Take care and stay in touch.

The world is in lockdown.  Well more to the point, humans are in lockdown.
As far as the natural world is concerned, it's business as usual and life goes on.
Our Summer migrants will still embark on their awe-inspiring flights back north despite civil aviation grinding to a halt.
Baboons will still groom each other despite social distancing
While some people panic buy, elephants will eat only as much as they need.
Leopards will still prowl at night despite curfews and pangolins, well, our pangolins are still free, as all pangolins should be.
Escape to the clear waters of the Maldivian ocean or set off
on an early morning game drive in the African Bush...

Here are some fun ideas to keep you moving
(and kids entertained!) whilst staying at home.
Why not encourage your little swimmers to appreciate the precious nature of our under-water world.  When we are all traveling again, they'll be able to join in the coral adoption project at Anantara Dhigu in the Maldives but in the meantime they can sign up to the Six Senses Laamu 10 week Junior Marine Biologist programme and qualify from home.  The turtles are due to hatch in May, what more needs to be said to get them to sign up?!
Take a live Virtual Game Drive with Wild Earth with a chat box enabling budding Game Rangers to interact and ask questions.  What's not cool about heading to the savannas and forests of Africa and track elusive leopards whilst listening to the trumpets of elephants in real time?. If a Live game drive is too early or Sunset too late, then you can catch up on their youtube channel. Whilst originally designed for teachers, in lockdown children age 4 - 18 home schooling are welcome to join.
Anantara Resorts have some fun ideas to train up your mini travelers as Junior Hoteliers. To thank their parents for all that home-schooling support, perhaps it's time to pamper them with an amazingly yummy smoothie.  Why not load up on Vitamin C with the Qasr Al Sarab Orange & Date recipe?

Now on to COMPETITION TIME!   Haven't you always wondered how those amazing towel animals that perch on your bed on arrival are created? Here's your chance to learn some Anantara Housekeeping secrets so you can seriously impress future sleepover guests AND be in with a chance of winning a £25 Amazon Voucher.  Send a picture of your creation with your name and age by 15th May to abi@bushbaby.travel.  There is an under and over 12's category and adults are welcome to enter too. Good Luck!
