Snow?  No, Thanks!

I've always been a stalwart winter-lover.  I've been heard to utter (quietly, lest I risk bodily harm), "Yahoo!" upon seeing more snowflakes in April...in May, even.  I love snow...I can't help it.  But I've had enough this year!  We've had at least 15 days with snow this April.  Our daffodils are still barely blossoming, wrestling with the blustery air to unfurl their shivering, frigid petals.  And every little sign of spring in our grey and brown landscape is celebrated with jumping-up-and-down joy.  We worship you, daffodils!

But farther out of the hills, in the valley lands of relative warmth, another story unfolds.  We drive a half hour down the hill and see flowers blooming, green grass already mowed, and trees in full blossom.  And hidden in the secret wet places of these warmer climes are emerging baby ferns...and we know what that means.  Fiddleheads!!  Shaking their fists in the face of Old Man Winter.  It's time to taste the essence of spring, of new life, of green after the months of browns and greys.  They're on the menu this week, but we're getting a limited quantity, so be sure to order early if you'd like some.

Our vegetable hoophouse is full of salad mix, spinach, and baby bok choi, possibly ready to begin harvesting next week (stay tuned!).  On a sunny day, when the outside temp. is in the chilly 40's, to step into the humid air of the hoophouse, resplendent with green deliciousness, is a bit of heaven.
Can't wait to share the bounty with you soon.

For those of you who want a breath of fresh air, here's a note from Amy!
"Hello Friends & Customers of Wing & A Prayer Nursery.  Spring will arrive as soon as the snow stops flying!  I opened my over-wintering boxes this week and can see hints of life pushing above the soil.  I plan to open the nursery for sales the 2nd or 3rd week in May.  Covid-19 safety protocols will be announced soon.  If there are gardeners who are so excited they must have plants now, give me a call and I will be happy to make an appointment for you (413-634-5659).  My exciting news is that I am launching a CSA this season.  You can read about it HERE.  See you soon!  Amy

COVID-19 KITCHEN DETAILS:  SAME AS LAST WEEK!  No need to re-read if you already read it!
For those of you who order food, rest assured that we are using ever-vigilant practices to ensure the safety of our customers & crew.  We have plenty of soap and hand sanitizer for our kitchen crew; we have disinfectant spray that we use on surfaces; and all of your glass food containers are sterilized every week in an industrial sterilizer.  We are all wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing in the kitchen.  We have a safety protocol for food deliveries and pick-ups.  Please let me know if you have concerns or questions, or would like further details.  During the Covid-19 pandemic our menus will be a bit leaner due to the extra time required for our safety protocols and to a smaller crew because of increased physical distancing.  We're still proud to offer an abundance of choices.  Let me know if there are some old favorites you're longing for!
