Tiny grains of sand. Sticking together, under pressure. That’s all this formation is made of. So, if you feel small or helpless Remember, you matter. Your sacrifices count. They add up, just like tiny grains of sand.
Small, but Mighty
This week, the Utah Office of Tourism launched the "Small, but Mighty" Immediate Phase portion of its long-term recovery strategy in eight markets.

Two 15- and 30-second spots on Connected TV (streaming services such as Hulu and Disney+) show empathy and tie together pillars of permanence, openness and our collective desire to stay united. The messages are meant to begin restoring confidence and inspire in-state and regional drive-market audiences by reminding them of what Utah offers. Markets include eight western states: California, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah.

We keep audiences inspired by connecting Utah's natural landscapes to the actions people are taking to stay united. We thank those who are doing their part.

Spots are served in markets to align with current COVID-19 guidelines.

Commercial Rental Assistance Program

The COVID-19 Commercial Rental Assistance Program was created on April 30, 2020, when Gov. Herbert signed S.B. 3006. The program grants $40 million in rental relief to Utah small businesses that have lost revenue as a result of measures taken during the pandemic to minimize the public’s exposure to COVID-19.

Visit the Governor’s Office of Economic Development Commercial Rental Assistance Program page to review eligibility and documentation requirements and to apply.

Free DMO Segments on Utah Public Radio

UPR would like to invite Utah tourism directors to record tips on how listeners can use virtual tours, read books about Utah travel sites or icons, view online photographs or other methods to connect to Utah’s tourist sites as a way of coping with COVID-19 restrictions.

UPR’s Project Resilience program provides tips on how listeners can use meditation, yoga, outdoor play, and positive parenting techniques to deal with trauma. UPR is expanding the program to include ways listeners can connect to Utah’s tourism treasures as a way of unwinding, as well as looking forward to a time when they can visit some of the sites and areas they are learning more about. They also hope the program will help to boost spirits and the Utah tourism economy once travel and visitation to area sites is allowed.

As UPR is a public radio station, under FCC guidelines they are not allowed to air segments that are promotional or commercial radio sounding. These segments are designed to serve the public as an educational and learning tool. Topics may include:
  • How reading books about the area can enhance a future visit. (List a few books.)
  • Unique places to visit in the tourism area once travel is allowed
  • Viewing photos of tourism sites as a way of remembering past visits or preparing for future travel
  • Popular hiking trails and how to access maps and trails
  • Planning now for travel later as a way of looking to the future
Please contact Kerry Bringhurst to discuss ideas for 60- to 90-second scripts. Kerry is hoping to have this done by May 13 or sooner.
