An Oasis of Poetry!

Dear Poets, 

Our anthology Viral Verse: Poetry of the Pandemic is now published! 
And this email is going to tell you all about how to get your author copies.
Please save it for future reference. 
Thank you for your contribution. Together, through the writing and through the book, we truly have created a small oasis of poetry in the world, which is no small thing...neither is this congregation of 10 usually solitary great blue herons on an oyster mound in the bay outside my house a week ago.

FREE KINDLE COPY FOR EVERYONE APRIL 30 - MAY 4
 
The Kindle Version of Viral Verse is going to sell for $4.99. From Thursday April 30th, through Monday May 4th, you and anyone else can download it for free. You will need to order it through an Amazon account, but you don't have to have a Kindle device. You can download a free Kindle Reader app to your phone, tablet, or even read it on a laptop. If none of those options work for you, please contact me and I will email you a PDF copy of the book. I want everyone to have access to a free electronic copy of the book.

A caveat about reading on the Kindle app: The format is not as elegant as the print book, and with the ability to increase the font size, your lovely line formatting will probably be shot. The best we can expect is to be able to click on a poem from the table of contents so you don't have to flip page by page to find your poem; and to have each poem begin on its own page.

DISCOUNTED PRINT COPIES FOR CONTRIBUTORS

The print anthology is now available for purchase. Right now it has a different link than the Kindle version, but they should be linked soon. You can check out the book and "look inside" the first few pages here. As you can see, it's quite an attractive book [and should be typo free, but please do let me know if you see anything that's incorrect and I can update the manuscript].

I have selected "expanded distribution" for the paperback, which means libraries and bookstores can order it in about 6-8 weeks when it appears in a bookseller's trade catalog. So, if you know people morally opposed to Amazon, they should be able to order elsewhere beginning in July.

Viral Verse will cost the public $10.99 plus tax and shipping.

As a contributor, I'm extending the author price to each of you, and the cost is much less. Please do consider carefully how many copies you would like, since I will need to place each order for you, and I would like to do this only once or twice. To order, I will need payment and your shipping address, since the books will go directly to you.

When you decide how many author copies to order, please consider purchasing a copy for your local library, which has limited funds to purchase books. Most library branches have local author sections, where they will display and catalog your donated book.

For those with multiple poems, please consider selecting one of your favorite shorter ones so that we can keep the launch to 2 hours. I'll let you know the reading order that morning.
