Dear Friends,

You partnered with 80 U.S. churches in 23 states, and Puerto Rico, this past month to help families hardest hit by COVID-19.

These local churches are helping refugees and immigrants, providing lunches for children, running or supplying food banks, making masks, covering rent and utilities, and delivering meals. With your gifts, CAMA provided more than $150,000 in small grants to increase their impact. Thank you!

Together, these Alliance churches provided 7,500 meals, distributed over 7,000 masks, and served over 10,000 people. And it continues!

Here’s a look into six local initiatives:

Food for the Homeless in Olympia, Washington

By rearranging their food distribution outreach into a drive-thru, Hidden Creek Community Church has continued a vital ministry to low-income families and the homeless. One woman, who lives out of her car, asked volunteers to load up her vehicle with food for a nearby homeless camp. She texted later, “You have given us hope again!!!”

Meals and Masks in Merced, California

“Rather than pull back into our comfort zone, we want to help those who are in need,” says Rev. Thai Vang. The Alliance Church of Merced has sewn over a thousand masks (and counting) for the local hospitals and clinics. Every week they also prepare and cook dinner for 40-60 people living at a homeless shelter.

Care Packages in Columbia, South Carolina

Through a partnership with a local elementary school, Pastor Malcolm learned about a mother of three who recently became a caregiver to her sister’s four children. With your gifts, Sandhills Community Church delivered meat, bread, milk, fresh fruit, and non-perishable items to this new family of nine. She texted Pastor Malcolm, “You all are truly a blessing to my family!”

Family Food Packets in Birmingham, Alabama

Over 20 immigrant families, not eligible for government assistance, received food packets from Encuentro Con Jesus. Ana, from Guatemala, is a single mom of five and lives in a mobile home. “Her joy was immense when she received the box of food,” Pastor Ruben says.

Weekly Dinners in New Bremen, Ohio

In a town of 3,000, Faith Alliance Church provides weekly free meals to 100 people. The meals have gone to families of hospital staff, foster care families, families battling cancer, and families who have experienced layoffs. One man broke down in tears when a church volunteer delivered a meal to his home.

Mask Distribution in Bayville, New Jersey

A group of women from Living Water Community Church created an online signup sheet for people in need of masks. So far, they have sewn and distributed over 550 masks with a note that includes the gospel message. First responders, nursing homes, police departments, medical professionals, and cancer patients have received these masks.

A nurse who attends Living Water messaged the women, "Thank you so much for the mask. We have prayer at work now. So many people from so many different walks of life are looking to me for prayer. I never expected to be the one doing it. Our God is great!"

Light shines brighter as it gets darker, and the saints are rising up,” writes Pastor Tre from Southside Alliance Church in New York, who also received a grant. His words truly describe the response of our Alliance family locally and globally in this COVID-19 crisis.

Around the world, Alliance international workers are providing care in chaos. You can play a part by giving to the Great Commission Day offering. Your gift will be matched up to $250,000!

Beginning in May, CAMA will increase our international response to COVID-19 in partnership with local Alliance churches. Together, we can expand the scope of our response to places in great need.

We’re so grateful to know you’re with us,
