Galleri K har gleden av å presentere en ny separatutstilling med Are Blytt. Utstillingen vil vise nye malerier fra de to siste årene, i tillegg til et lite utvalg fotografier. Blytts arbeider har de siste årene fått en økende internasjonal oppmerksomhet.
Til utstillingen er det produsert en monografi med omfattende billedmateriale og en tekst av billedkunster Lina Viste Grønli.

”Are Blytt's praxis embraces painting and is focused on painterly questions, while also challenging them and testing the limits of this medium. The relationship between image and text is essential in his works and he paints self-written texts and photos into the abstract canvases. His paintings deal with current social and political questions, within a humanistic approach, presented on sensitve abstract backgrounds. All this together makes the canvases complexly charged both formally and conceptually.”

In 2018, Blytt was artist-in-residence at the WIELS Contemporary Art Centre Studio Program for Emerging Artists, Brussels, Belgium. Awarded in 2014 the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, NYC, and the Forsberg & Aulies Painters Award, Oslo. Blytt was also artist-in-residence at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, in 2012.
