Dear eProgress Newsletter Sign-up

It is with heartfelt sadness we must share the news that much-loved Town and District Councillor Chris Blanchard-Cooper passed away on Thursday 30 April. It came as a shock.

Chris was much loved and respected by all that had the pleasure to know him. Chris lived in the Town all his life and had strong connections to many areas that filled his life with joy. Especially his love and life-long passion of theatre, our very own Windmill Theatre community was extremely lucky to have someone so dedicated to his many roles for over 30 years. Not to mention his heavy involvement with the Bonfire Society, Carnival Celebrations, Littlehampton Concert Band and the Friends of Mewsbrook Park Committee. Chris loved Littlehampton and it showed, he stood as Town Councillor in 2017 and District in 2019 – winning both seats and he could not be prouder.

Always wanting and fighting to better Littlehampton, he was a true advocate and gentleman. Chris will be greatly missed, and I think I speak on behalf of all of us when I say this. My sincere condolences and thoughts are with his devoted husband Billy, his mother Maureen and their family and friends. A life taken far too soon. We will miss you Chris.

Councillor Tracey Baker
Littlehampton Town Mayor
The 75th Anniversary of VE DAY is being commemorated over the weekend of the 8th-10th May and although national events have been cancelled, Littlehampton Museum has pulled together a number of virtual events for you.

Our VE DAY 75th Anniversary Poetry Competition was very popular and the judges had a hard time selecting a winner, so much so that we awarded prizes to two runners-up. We are planning something special with the winner and will bring you more news next week.

There are some benefits to being at home including the opportunity to learn new things and develop skills. Aspire Sussex are offering their Level 2 Certificate Distance Learning courses free of charge. Check out their website for more details.

We have been busy exploring ways to host virtual committee meetings in May and we can now confirm that the extraordinary meeting of the Policy and Finance Committee on the 12th May and the Annual Council will be taking place and members of the public will be able to watch live. You can continue to send your comments about planning applications to our email.

A Councillor vacancy exists in the office of Councillor for the Wickbourne Ward of Littlehampton Town Council. You can read more here.

As you will probably know by now you can contact us via email and find out about our services on our website. We have had many enquiries from potential allotment holders but for the time being we are unable to let out plots but are adding people to a waiting list.
