Purpose and Items for Presentation and Discussion
The purpose of the Town Hall is:

a. to provide information relative to the historical CFUW-GWI relationship and particularly financial questions that have been a concern of Clubs

b. to inform members about the composition of the Mediation Working Group and to elaborate on its mandate to work with the mediator, Rebecca Bromwich, to seek a solution, or options, to resolve positions within CFUW about continued membership in GWI.

c. to give Clubs an opportunity to ask questions about content presented or ask for further related information.

d. to provide an open mike session for members to express views or to make comments. This latter item will be conducted so that members may speak for 2 minutes each, and the moderator/chairs will ensure that there is regional representation of speakers.

A listing of topics to be addressed is attached. It is possible that there may be minor adjustments. Please note the opportunities for participation.

The Mediation Working Group
Members of the Working Group will serve under the auspices of the CFUW board of directors and will comply with CFUW confidentiality agreements, the CFUW code of ethics and CFUW respectful treatment policies.  The mediator will be the approved communicator for the working group and all statements will originate from her.

The board and the mediator ask that members not lobby members of the working group. They are well informed about the issues and about members’ views, have access to consultation, and need to be left undisturbed to complete their mandate.

Within the group of individuals selected to serve on this Working Group, a broad range of views about membership in GWI and considerations for resolution of the impasse are represented. Attention was paid also to regional representation and to Club size.  Individuals selected to serve on this Working Group bring a wide variety of skills and experiences to their mandate.

Timelines
It is expected that the deliberations of the Working Group will start this week and wrap up by May 31. It is planned to have another virtual Town Hall at the end of May to discuss the report of the Working Group with the CFUW membership. The Mediation report will also be discussed at the virtual Annual General Meeting, June 19-20, 2020.

As per the Act, any recommendations that the Board would like to present to the membership for their consideration at the AGM, must be included in the AGM notice, a minimum of 21 days prior to the meeting.  It is unlikely that the members will be voting on recommendations from this Report at the upcoming AGM. However, the report will be presented with an opportunity for members' questions.

If the AGM cannot deal with any recommendations from the report, and assuming there are substantive recommendations that need to be acted on before the 2021 AGM, then a Special National Meeting may be called by the new CFUW Board sometime after the June 2020 AGM. Before the June AGM discussion, Clubs may need to hold a virtual meeting to discuss the report and any recommendations whether the recommendations will be brought for a vote at the AGM or not. The mediator will keep us updated as the process continues.

I hope to see you and hear from you at the Town Hall on Thursday!

Best wishes,
