COVID-19 Task Force
Phase One of Reopening Florida…What does this mean?
You likely heard Governor DeSantis this week announce that most of Florida will enter Phase One of reopening, doing so in a way that is “Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step.” What does that mean for Prince of Peace/Príncipe de Paz?
Throughout this COVID-19 pandemic, PoP/PdeP has remained focused on providing Christ-centered ministry in ways that protect those who make up vulnerable populations, both in our congregation and in our community. The health and safety of all will continue to be an important focus for us. With recent news of cities, states, and countries loosening shelter-in-place restrictions and discussing plans to reopen the economy, many of you are asking questions about when we will be bringing people back into the church office and resuming in-person worship and on-campus activities.
The answer is simple: We continue to be in a “wait, watch, and learn” posture when it comes to reopening our campus for daily activities and Sunday worship. Over the next several weeks we will continue to assess the current environment and make decisions based on what's right for all of us at PoP/PdeP. We will take the time to learn best practices by observing other congregations, as well as watch our community for any resurgence of the virus. We will continue to monitor the areas of testing, therapeutics, and vaccines for advancements as we determine how to open our campus in the most safe and secure manner.
In short, we won’t be the first church to open, but we won’t be the last. Having said that, online worship for God’s people of PoP/PdeP has been amazingly effective. Moreover, we have found ways to make online work…well…work for us. And God’s continued hand of blessing has been evident.
Please continue to pray…practice good, safe, social distancing…and anticipate God using us in powerful ways because He is with us!
