I would like to take the time to share a personal update, along with some critical changes coming to Teach For America Florida.
 
Following the announcement of Tiana Tyesky’s departure in Orlando, along with thoughtful deliberation in partnership with individuals across the TFA network we have made the decision as a collective to move forward with a unification between Central Florida’s (Orlando) alumni work and the work of the Jacksonville region.  

As Teach for America moves toward its new strategic direction, these changes in Florida present a unique opportunity for collective alignment to reflect how alumni strategy has the ability to support all regions across the state. We’ve reached this decision based upon a few key factors: Orlando’s new alumni-only status; the growing number of central Florida alumni entering the workforce; and the reduction of work streams in comparison to TFA’s typical regional model.  

Under my leadership, Jacksonville and Central Florida will move forward together developing and implementing strategies that will distinctly serve individual communities and our network of corps members and alumni beginning June 1st. This purposeful transition is designed to allow ample time to shape an inclusive, community-responsive plan in both regions.
