Together We are Stronger
Did you know that the Association of Colleges of Sisters of St. Joseph convenes over a dozen communities of practice groups typically for monthly or quarterly meetings?  This month, the following groups have met: Advancement, Campus Ministers (shown below), Civic Engagement, Mission Officers (shown above), and Student Exchange Coordinators.  Next month: Academic Officers, Enrollment Management, International Education, Mission Officers, and Student Affairs will meet. The conversations have focused on sharing strategies for adapting work to support students in a virtual environment, resource sharing, and identifying opportunities for collaboration.

Student Exchange Program

ACSSJ offers a student exchange program to all students enrolled in member colleges. Students can attend another member campus for a semester while benefitting from classes easily applied to their graduation requirements and their financial aid package staying intact. Read more about two student's experiences in the program from this spring semester. Despite having to finish their semester from home, both students had a great experience.  Applications for the next academic year can be found here.

St. Catherine University sophomore, Anna Franek (above) attended Mount Saint Mary's University for the spring semester.  She wished to experience something different but not too far from home.  She loved the new school and the cultural differences that she found in California. Many people that she met contributed to making her experience so unique that she is considering returning in the fall semester.
Julie Tapia (above) is a student from Mount Saint Mary's University and spent two semesters away in the Student Exchange Program. In the Fall 2019, she attended Regis College and spent the spring semester at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, New York.  In a recent interview she stated "I wanted to travel to touch as many people as I could but wherever I traveled, all these people touched me instead."
Intern Reflection
This spring, Anna Maggiolo, an international student from Padova, Italy, athlete, and senior at The College of Saint Rose completed an internship with The Association of Colleges of Sisters of St. Joseph.  She shares more about her experience.

"My internship with ACSSJ has been a great experience. I am close to finishing my marketing degree and in these past months, I have used skills I learned in my classes.  Additionally, I learned how to use Canva. I could be creative while creating content for the social media pages. I used Mailchimp to write the monthly newsletters. These are some of the skills that I developed while working with ACSSJ and that I will apply in other marketing positions in the future.  Martha, the Executive Director, introduced me to the work projects and I looked forward to her feedback to improve my skills. She is a great person to work with. I would definitely recommend an experience like this to other students. It helped me be more mature and responsible."

Thank you to Anna for your work and contributions to our organization.
