Good Morning! In this issue we are covering the rise of racist aggression amid the pandemic, the necessity of churches to be ready for unexpected situations, and hopes for church diversity growth in a post-pandemic reality.
The COVID-19 virus has caused us all to fear for our families, jobs, and health. Fear makes us take stock of the important things in life, but it must not control our actions. The pandemic has led to blaming and a rise in racist aggression toward the Chinese community. As God’s people we need to stand against this sin.
We all have perspectives on what racism is and what it is not. Many times we do not agree on the terms but we may agree that something is not right when the perspectives of one group dominate the reality of another group or groups. In this article Rev. Harold Caicido understands the Gospel as an anti-racism message of reconciliation.
Pastor Enrique Gomez uses the story of an accident to showcase the need of churches to be ready for unexpected situations and the importance of having a spirit of readiness to serve. He shares how attending to immediate physical needs can open the doors to building relationships and providing for long-term physical and spiritual healing.
