Happy Sauvignon Blanc Day!
Friday, May 1st is International Sauvignon Blanc Day! A popular and unmistakable white wine that’s loved for its “green” herbal flavors and racy acidity, Sauvignon Blanc grows nearly everywhere and thus, offers a variety of styles ranging from lean to bountiful.

Even though New Zealand produces just 1% of the world’s wine, it still reigns as the “Sauvignon Blanc capital of the world.” This small country, comprised of the North and South Islands, is an area slightly larger than Oregon and home to nearly 50,000 acres of Sauvignon Blanc.

Jules Taylor Wines

Born and bred in Marlborough, Jules Taylor has seen the transformation that the wine industry brought to the region and has a deep understanding of the interplay between the grape and Marlborough’s variety of climates and soils. She also spent much time travelling the globe’s other wine producing areas, working five vintages in Italy and three in Australia. Upon her return home, she slotted straight into a job making wine for some of the most acclaimed brands in the country, and eventually branched off to create her own label under the mentorship of Kim Crawford in 2001.

More than a decade later, the little moonlighting project has grown into an internationally recognized label and the brand Jules Taylor became synonymous with high quality, premium Marlborough wine. (wine.com)

Rapaura Springs Wines

Each bottle of Rapaura Springs tells a story of a lifetime in Marlborough — of water and wine, and working with nature.

"A lot of people say great winemaking begins in the vineyard, but for us it begins far earlier, high in the Southern Alps. It takes months for the pure water from these snow-capped mountains to filter through braided rivers and underground aquifers to make its way to our Rapaura Springs home vineyard, and for our vines to grow and bear fruit for harvest. That full cycle of nature defines our lives and shapes the way we live.

"These are wines made by family and friends, and imbued with our resilience and realised dreams. They carry the story of bettering our best and breaking boundaries. Of discovering new things and savouring the moment. Of sunrises and sunsets, interspersed by days full of fun and full of hard work. We appreciate what we’ve got and constantly redefine what we’ve got to give.

"Year on year, we share new perspectives from our home in Marlborough, protecting our water and land, and growing wines that help define Marlborough." (Rapaura Springs)
