New Worship Series

Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people.  And day by day the Lord added to their number...
 ~ Acts 2

The life and death of Jesus had one strong message that was both overt and inherent: love one another. The heart of the matter was love. Time and again we hear Jesus offer the disciples a post-resurrection message of empowerment to give to the world what he had given to them. This Easter Season we will encourage one another to truly live out the heart of the matter.

Kids and Worship!
As your kids are worshiping virtually with you, I encourage you to have them use their “worry” stones and heart coloring pages!! The link below will give you examples of how to engage your children in worship during this time! It also has the heart coloring pages at the end.
Kids and Worship Resources and Coloring Pages
Additional Coloring page shared with us from Pastor Margaret!
Pastor Richelle is looking for HEART artwork! If you child has made any heart artwork or you see a "heart" out there in nature...take a picture and send it to me. I'd love to include them in the worship videos. Thank you in advance!

Giving During this Difficult Time
Thank you to those who continue to support the church through your financial gifts at this time. We encourage you to either mail your check to the church or go on our website at fairportumc.org and set up a reoccurring giving schedule. It is very easy! Remember, your staff are continuing to work hard! They are finding new ways to be in ministry, the church is being kept up very well and projects are being completed without foot traffic, worship is being shared in new ways and you all are out there sharing your gifts with the world! Face Masks are being made by several of you in the congregation, you are getting groceries for people, taking people to appointments, calling on one another and praying for each other!  Small groups were still making and delivering food to St. Joe's House of Hospitality during March, our Learning Links volunteers have been ensuring all the students at the Pines are cared for. Ministry is happening in real ways! Our church has been able to step in and help those who have been laid off with critical bills and with food…as well as give $1,000 from 50/50 fund to Perinton Food Shelf! We…YOU are out there being God’s love in the world! Thank you. As God is generous with us…may we be generous as well!

**You can give by going online and making a one time or reoccurring gift. Just visit our website. Thank you for your continued generosity during this time.

Discussion Questions
Use these questions to spur on conversation during our small group break out sessions during Feed the Spirit, or keep them in mind throughout the week as a devotion so that you can devote this Easter season to getting to the Heart of the Matter.

Who or what have you found to be a “voice of the Shepherd,” giving you a sense of well-being and abundance in this time? What things are “thieves,” threatening to rob you of a sense of calm and trust? Or if you can’t think of something from this week, what do you have in your memory as something that offers abundance?

"Feed the Spirit" Coffee hour TODAY!

Note about May 10th: I will be on vacation from May 4-10th. On that Sunday you will still have worship available! My good friend, Rev. Megan Croy, who is the pastor at Lima Trinity UMC in OH will be hosting FUMC for worship along with her congregation. You will given a link in next Sunday's email, just like now,  for their worship service and a link for their online service (that people all watch together). The blessings of being a connectional church is evident in this way! I will also have a link to all the different worship services from around the conference.

Prayers for the Week

Let us all continue to hold in prayer all those affected by the coronavirus (especially health care workers and those caring for our most vulnerable sisters and brothers) and...
  • For all teachers and students who received word that they would not be returning back to their school cuildings for the remainder of the school year. Prayers for all those grieving this reality and the challenges it presents to teachers, stutends and families.
  • Please keep the Warren Family in your prayers this week as they mourn the passing of Gary’s mother, Marian on Saturday. And earlier this week Gary's uncle, Harvey, passed away. May God comfort them in this time of grief.
  • Holly Warren asks prayers of comfort for her mother after the passing of her mother’s dog.
  • Please keep the Mealey Family in your prayers this week.  Fran shared that her daughter is in the hospital currently with health concerns.
  • For Rose McNulty, recovering after a hard fall.
  • For Marjorie Rose, who continues her recovery after health concerns.
  • For Wini Adams who will be having the battery in her pacemaker replaced on Monday, May 4.
  • For those grieving the loss of loved ones.
  • For those who are struggling with the challenges of social distancing.
  • We continue our prayers for Bev Boynton, Herb and June Konz, Courtney Pedersen, Josh, Lois Spencer, Susan, and Maura.
To request prayer: Send an email to the office and indicate how you would like the prayer shared (public or private) with Pastor Richelle

From Nicole…

Share the Gift of Music in Our Worship Videos!
If you would like to record a video of a piece of music at home for one of our Sunday worship videos, please e-mail me (nicole@fairportumc.org). I will let you know what format it needs to be in and how/when to get it to me. It is a very different experience recording these worship services, and I would love to have a way for our musicians to share their talents during our pandemic time of online worship.
Share Photos in My Music Videos!
I’d like to offer a new opportunity to keep our congregation connected! If you would like to send me photos that you’ve taken, I will try to make a new video of piano music and photographs as a way of connecting our congregation through music and pictures. I am a novice at this, but I thought it would be nice to include photos from others…nature, kids’ artwork, people…things that will inspire us and calm us and help us feel connected during this time. E-mail me if you would like to share some of your pictures
(nicole@fairportumc.org)!
Please make sure that if there are people in your pictures, they are okay with being in a video. Names will not be used, except the people who have sent me the photos on the title page. The video will be uploaded to YouTube and then shared in the weekly e-mail and on the church’s Facebook page.

Share the Gift of Inspiration!
If you would like to share some inspiration with the church community through poetry, music, words, singing...for the weekly E-News please let
Pastor Richelle know. You are a gifted and talented church. Share the love!

The Upper Room Devotional
Many members of our congregation find The Upper Room daily devotional a helpful guide to deepening their spirituality and look forward to the latest copy in the Parlor.  While the church is closed, the Upper Room publishers have offered the May/June publication as a digital download for you to enjoy anywhere.  Click here to download your copy, as well as pocket prayer books for prayers of comfort, courage, hope, and grace in times of sickness.

In Need of a Face Mask?
It has been recommended that if you leave your house to go shopping you are supposed to be wearing a mask. The mask does not prevent you from getting the virus but it can help prevent you from spreading the virus.  If you are in need of a mask there are a few people from our church who have offered to make sure you get one.  Please contact
Karen HockenberryKaren Felgenhour, Brenda Deever, Eleanor Robinson, or Laura Smith  if you are in need.  Thank you, ladies! If anyone else is making masks please let the office know and we can add your email!

Pastoral/Congregational Care
If you are in need of any pastoral care during this time please contact Pastor Richelle. You can text her, email her or call her! If you need her phone number please call the church office or email her directly. She is available to have a Zoom at request. The Sunday message/service will be mailed to all those without email, paying special attention to our nursing home/home-bound members! Thank you to all those who are helping care for the congregation.

Perinton Food Shelf
Donations can be dropped off at the Perinton Community Center or Red Bird Food Market.
Monetary donations can be made on their website:
perintonfoodshelf.org with a credit card, Paypal or a check can be mailed in. The address is on our website.

One Year in the Bible
The whole church is invited to join the Children's Ministry Team in taking time this year to explore the bible!  You can read about key events and people in the Bible. You’ll get an overview of what happened…and why it matters so much! You can pick up a reading plan (purple paper) from the Parlor.  Happy reading – our prayer is that you and your family grow closer to each other and to God as you embark on your journey through the Bible.  Questions?  Ask
Joy Leinenbach,
The reading for this week is Jeremiah's Story: Jeremiah 1:3-19
