In the Yoga Sutras, we learn that the practice of Yoga is aimed at addressing the fluctuations or disturbances in the mind (chitta vritti) so we may experience our natural state of peace and joy. Some may misunderstand this and think "Yoga chitta vritti" means Yoga is the control of the mind. If that is so, who does the controlling? When the mind is disturbed and you want to regulate it, you use another part of the mind to do that job. It’s not the soul that is trying to regulate the mind.... The cosmic mind does everything. As some of us were discussing the strange feel of this life with social distancing, we expressed both a sense of gratitude for being safe and healthy, and a deep pang of sorrow for those many souls who are suffering.... We may find small ways to serve our local communities, but how do we offer support to the many others far away who are in dire need? The Ashram community joined together to celebrate Earth Day by performing 108 Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) on the Yogaville Quad. The celebration was later streamed on Facebook as part of the Ashram's ongoing hatha classes, offered everyday at 5 pm ET via the Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville Facebook page.
