 Southern Highlands
Boutique Conference Market

1 May 2020

Southern Highlands Conference Strategy
In an effort to stimulate the mid-week visitor economy Destination Southern Highlands (DSH) is in the process of developing a new Conference & Business Events Strategy whilst positioning the region as NSW’s Premier Boutique Conference Destination. The Strategy will incorporate:
  • A destination wide audit of quality conference assets and experiences.
  • Establish a destination-wide optimal level 'Conference Service Standards Agreement' to enhance the delegate experience.
  • Identify any gaps that present a need or opportunity for operators.
  • Deliver industry training to assist operators in effectively implement their Conference Service Standards Agreement.
It is now an ideal time as a result of the current COVID-19 disruptions for local businesses to become ‘Conference Ready’. DSH is seeking your support to get ‘our house in order’ so that we can take advantage of a proactive and competitive push for the attraction of corporates to do business in the Southern Highlands once we have been given the 'green light' to remarket our region post COVID-19. Please take advantage of the following recommendations and tips.
What is the Boutique Conference Market?
The Boutique Conference Market is aimed at attracting Corporate groups of 200 pax & less with the benefit of boosting midweek corporate expenditure in the Southern Highlands. The Conferencing sector brings significant yield and employment benefits to the Southern Highlands. We need to firstly establish who we are pitching to, what is our capability and who in the Southern Highlands offers conference products, services & experiences or has the potential to offer such. The following criteria will be used to build our offering:
  • Accommodation 80 rooms or less
  • 3-5 Star Rating
  • Venues including breakout rooms
  • Suitable venue for Board Meetings
  • Offer Unique local experiences
  • Transport Operators
  •  Availability midweek
  •  Suits smaller and more discerning clients and businesses
  •  Provide services to the Conference market
So if you want a ‘slice of the action’ you need to be registered on Destination NSW ‘Meet in Regional NSW’ Conference portal. READ BELOW on how to get involved.
Meet in Regional NSW is a dedicated resource for event planners and Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs) developed by Destination NSW (DNSW) to help drive conference and business events to Regional NSW. The website is also a resource for Regional NSW venues and suppliers to the business events industry looking to promote their product and/or service. It is important for venues and tourism businesses to keep their information up-to-date and available for event planners and PCOs to search and plan. DNSW has a dedicated team available to offer support and resources to event owners and planners as well as industry operators around NSW. DSH is working closely with DNSW to develop our destination as a 'premium boutique conference destination'.
