Vol. 7. Issue 31

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week (4-8 May). Now more than ever, I think we all can say that we appreciate our teachers even more. This year our teachers were asked to support our students in ways they had never done before. Not only have they risen to the challenge, but they have gone above and beyond to ensure that every student is able to continue learning, even during these extraordinary and tough times. Their living rooms were never meant to be classrooms, but our teachers have put their dedication, experience, and love for education to work in order to turn their homes into places where students can achieve their full academic potential.

Every school year has its peaks and valleys. Every student hits highs and lows throughout their education, sometimes over the course of a single day. We value our teachers because they meet our students where they are; they are there to celebrate their successes, and they are there to help them reach their goals by uplifting them at their lowest point. Our students might not remember every vocabulary word or math equation they learned this year, but they will remember what their teachers did for them during these uncertain times.

While this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week is taking place during some of the most unpredictable circumstances we have ever faced, the dedication and selflessness that our teachers have shown are the reasons we have been able to continue educating our students during these times. They are not just teachers, they are superheroes.

Teachers, thank you for your commitment to our students regardless of the circumstances. Thank you for your creative and engaging lessons that inspire students to discover their passions. Thank you for never giving up on the students who need you the most. Thank you for everything.

Please help us to give our teachers the recognition they deserve. Today we challenge each and every NAISR student to make and send a video message to at least one teacher (it could be your current teacher or one who has taught you in the past). In your video, tell your teacher what you like most about them, and how they have helped you to grow as a person. Even while we're apart, we can come together to show our teachers just how much they are truly appreciated.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week. All the best from our family to yours.

If your child has borrowed a device from the NAISR IT department, please be aware that your child will need to bring it to school on the days of their in-school learning. Thank you.
Lunch Options for May 2020
From next week, early learning and elementary students will eat in their classrooms, rather than gather in the cafeteria. Home lunches can still be brought in, however, please note that the shared microwaves will not be in use. A selection of prepared bagged lunches will be available for purchase from Tjeerd. These will be delivered to classrooms and regular cashless cards will be used. There will be five different bagged lunch options that students can choose from each morning.

Class Birthday Parties
Due to restrictions on the handling of food and gifts, small birthday celebrations can occur in class with the student's assigned group only. However, as we are following strict hygiene protocols, cupcakes or any other food or gifts from home may not be shared with students.
Happy Birthday Video
HS STUCO members have made a wonderful video acknowledging all students who have celebrated their birthday since distance learning began. Please enjoy this video full of best wishes from us to you.
