Dear St. Thomas' Family,
What does May 15 mean for St. Thomas’? As May 15 approaches and the NYS Pause begins to lift, many people are wondering what we will do as a church. We long to see each other and embrace one another. Our Bishop has communicated that the Diocese will "unpause" slowly, and by slowly, he means we will remain closed for in-person worship for at least a couple of more months past the NYS Pause date.
Amma Leslie will be pastorally cautious and prayerfully minded as to what is best for our parish as we work as a team with our Vestry. Love will continue to guide our way forward. We will certainly communicate to you as things develop.
For now, St. Thomas’ continues to adhere to the guidance of the Monroe Health Department, the Governor’s requests and the directives of the Bishop. We will not be open for public worship until further notice. The building is closed, but the work of the Church continues through daily prayers, ministries and worship.
At the beginning of the worldwide health pandemic, our Presiding Bishop encouraged us to practice habits of grace; he continues to remind us that what we are doing now, saying our prayers and creatively finding connection, is the way of love. Thank you for your patience and flexibility. If you have questions or concerns please reach out to any one of us.
Blessings and prayers,
Amma Leslie+ Harry Merryman, Warden Laura Thomas, Warden
