#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020, as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19, no matter who or where we are. #GivingTuesdayNow is an opportunity for people around the world to stand together in unity - to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal.
At Caroline Furnace, we remain hopeful that Summer Camp will continue in some way. We recognize that campers need Summer Camp now more than ever and we so look forward to welcoming them back to Fort Valley soon. They need to come learn, live, love, and play in community, to ask tough questions and find hope in their faith, and to try new things. We dream of new adventures, days at the lake, campfires on warm summer evenings, and laughter that fills the valley!
We are committed to hiring our camp counselors and providing some form of summer program. We recognize that the Summer Camp experience is just as important to our growing leaders - in faith development, teamwork, networking, discernment, training, and growth. The friendships that are made during a summer can last a lifetime!
We recognize that our communities will be especially in need of time together on retreat as soon as it is safe to do so. We look forward to providing more unforgettable experiences in faith, education, and renewal soon!
In the meantime, while we wait this out, we have realities to face. To put it simply, donor support is what will get us through this outbreak and the related shutdowns. Expenses continue, yet typical revenue from rentals for the second quarter is at zero. Fall/winter deposits and single household rentals are helping but cannot sustain us on their own. All Summer Camp revenue is being held in an account separate from our operating budget in case of refunds. Any variable expenses have been reduced.
