Africa For Christ

       Update

Dear Friends

A phrase that has recently become part of our everyday conversation is the "new normal." Covid 19 has turned the world upside down and it will take a long time for life to be normal again. Those that have been impacted the most are the poor and vulnerable. Despite the devastation, we have been greatly encouraged as we receive reports from South Africa and beyond as to how the Lord is able to take a desperate situation and use it for His glory!

Thank you for reading and praying!
By means of a special fund we have at Africa For Christ, topped up by generous donations from our partners, we were able to send funds to Ghana, Zimbabwe and Malawi. Mli from Zimbabwe wrote: "This has gone a long way to help our people that are suffering ... we managed to assist more than 60 households with food packs. Thank you very much for your help, may the Lord bless you!!
Due to Covid 19 and the loss of mostly casual work, many people in our townships are going hungry. Our two Coordinators Victor and Loyiso have been able to start 4 soup kitchens in the Motherwell area, assisting the community and particularly children, who are unable to get a meal at school as these are now closed.
Due to the desperate situation in our country, we felt strongly led to do a second food parcel distribution through our 38 South African Church Planters. We were so encouraged to receive the following report from Pastor Joseph in Burgersfort in the Free State:
"The FOOD PARCELS preached the Gospel more than us. Church members are very greatful. The community is watching and is surprised because the FOOD PARCELS from the Government could not reach anyone. And they wonder how small churches manage to supply their own. The recipients of FOOD PARCELS are filled with GREAT joy and gratitude. Thanks and may our God bless you richly. AMEN!!!

Praise God for:
- the practical help we could provide in these challenging times
- the opportunities the food parcel distribution gave our Church Planters to share Jesus
- God's protection over our Staff and Church Planters - we are not aware of anyone who has got sick

Please pray for:
- the aftermath of Covid-19 - that people would find employment

- follow up of those who have responded through the food parcel distribution
- as lockdown levels ease that the various Disciple Bible Study groups would resume

With much appreciation
 Gary
