Dear VCS Families,
We are on the home stretch now! I want to thank you for the wonderful partnership we have had through all of this. Having school shut down so abruptly was not an easy thing to do nor has it been easy for our students, teachers, or parents. Some have adapted extremely well. For those in that boat, we are truly grateful and happy for you. For most, it has been a steep learning curve and you have been able to muscle through it. There have been highs and lows, but for the most part, you are getting along well. To this group, we say thank you for all of your hard work and your positive attitudes. For the group that is struggling and feeling overwhelmed, we empathize with you. We affirm that this type of learning can be extremely difficult for you and we are doing everything in our power to help, connecting you with teachers’ aids, coming alongside you with a listening ear, and whatever else we are able to do to help. Just know that you are loved and you will get through this.
As we look at the calendar and how we are going to close up this school year in a few weeks, I am excited to honor our seniors as they finish their high school careers, for many, their entire schooling has been here at Valley, since preschool. I want to personally invite you to our Senior Spotlight Parade on May 15. It will be a parade drive-thru, this time our seniors will be dressed in their caps and gowns in the parking lot and we will drive-thru and honor them. A thoughtful card, sign or just driving by and saying congratulations and letting them know you care would mean a lot to them. We invite all families and the extended families of our graduates. Here are the names of the senior class of 2020: Madyson Dunn, Brooke Geffers, Yianni Giannopoulos, Alivia Harvey, Rylie Haydin, Amelia Lehman, Joshua Lehner, Andrew McFarlane, Joel O'Brien, Joel Rolston, Ben Schiltz, David Tuchscherer, and Isaiah Wade. We are still holding out for and planning our graduation ceremony for late June if we are able.
I want to encourage you today. God is in control and we have a wonderful opportunity to be a blessing to others. We should be lights in this unusually difficult time. Listening to others, letting them know you care and are truly concerned for their well being goes a long way. May you be a blessing to someone today, tomorrow, and into the weeks ahead as we work through all of these changes we are experiencing together!
In His Service,
Brad Dunn
