24th April 2020

In these uncertain and trying times the aim of the E-Newsletter is to keep people in the parish informed and in contact with other people in the parish. We make no apology for repeating information from previous E-Newsletters. Additional information is included this week.

As the 75th Anniversary of VE day approaches what memories of life in Myddle have passed down through the generations in your family? You may have stories, contemporary photographs or even photographs of artefacts from the time that you would like to share with the community in a special VE-day edition of this newsletter.
Children may like to make drawings of how they imagine VE-day might have been celebrated in the parish in 1945.  There are also flags to be coloured here
https://www.primarytreasurechest.com/teachingresources/category/world-war-two-teaching-resources.html
and a home schooling resource on VE Day with some interesting activities here
https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance/teaching-remembrance
while this video highlights the experiences of wartime children in air raid shelters .. a sort of underground lockdown!
https://www.iwm.org.uk/learning/adventures-in-history-the-worlds-best-den
These resources might give you and your children other ideas for colourful displays at home to brighten the Parish for the Anniversary as well as for contributions for the special VE-day edition of this e-newsletter.
Send contributions for the special edition of the e-newsletter either to kayleigh@specialairconservices.co.uk or greg_miller@btinternet.com
We will need your contributions by Tuesday 5th May so that the special edition can be issued on VE Day 8th May.  It will also be available on Facebook.

DO YOU NEED ACCESS TO YOUR CASH?
Post office Help Scheme: A new initiative introduced by the Post Office is being rolled out to banks.  Anyone who cannot leave home may be able to ask a trusted friend or volunteer to withdraw cash at any Post Office using a single-use voucher. The Post Office scheme is being extended and offered to all banks, building societies and credit unions. If the bank allows it, someone can ask for a one-time barcode sent via text, email or post for a stipulated amount. A trusted friend or volunteer can exchange the voucher for the cash requested. Previously, only a named individual, such as a carer, could collect cash in this way on someone's behalf. Now any trusted neighbour or volunteer can do so.

The idea of the Payout Now scheme is to allow people who are shielded or self-isolating, mainly elderly, to maintain access to cash without having to hand over a debit card and Pin to somebody else.

For more details please see BBC News and the Post Office website:
