In conjunction with SVR's recognition of Denim Day, you are invited to a screening fo the film "Roll Red Roll," directed by Columbia School of the Arts film maker Nancy Schwartzman. Scroll down to our "More Events" section for more information and how to RSVP.

AIMS (Addiction Information + Management Strategies) is Here to Support You
During moments of increased anxiety, students may experience a shift in their substance use patterns. AIMS continues to be available virtually for students who would like to have strategy-based and harm-reduction-centered conversations about safer substance use. Email aims@cumc.columbia.edu with questions or to schedule an appointment.

As finals approach and adjustments to distance learning continue, our team can provide a solution-based approach to address personal, academic, and professional concerns. Set up an individual Wellness Appointment by sending an email to

MHS Virtual Groups and CSW Virtual Spaces
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mental Health Services (MHS) and Center for Student Wellness (CSW) are operating remotely to provide a wide range of services and expanding our programming to provide virtual psychotherapy groups and gathering spaces. While the expectation is that participants maintain privacy, we cannot guarantee confidentiality, given the nature of the virtual meeting room. CSW is offering Yoga and Gentle Stretching via Zoom with Nicole Mitch, a yoga instructor and Licensed Massage Therapist. Join us for some mindful movement. The password for Gentle Stretching is CSWstretch and the password for Yoga is CSWyoga.

Cooper prefers to bark at dogs on the television and his ideal game of fetch consists of him running you around in circles!

Sexual Assault Awareness Month with Columbia Sexual Violence Response
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), and Sexual Violence Response continues the important work of prevention education and survivor advocacy—even if we can't be together physically. SVR is deeply committed to outreach and education, elevating the voices of survivors, and building community.  Email Michele Paolella at mp3902@cumc.columbia.edu to be added to the email list for upcoming SAAM events. The SVR Helpline remains available 24/7 and can be accessed at 212-854-HELP (4357). SVR provides information, referrals, reporting options, and confidential appointments with survivors and co-survivors, faculty, and staff.

*NEW* "Roll Red Roll" and the Reality of Rape Culture

In conjunction with SVR's recognition of Denim Day, you are invited to a screening fo the film "Roll Red Roll," directed by Columbia School of the Arts film maker Nancy Schwartzman. This film explores the extensive cover-up perpetrated by a close-knit community and the complicity of media culture that regularly engages in blaming and shaming victims of sexual assault. After the screening, stay for a talkback session with Ms. Schwartzman, a noted film maker, advocate, and human rights activist, to discuss the film and the issues it underscores. Student Health Service Has Moved to a Virtual Service Delivery Model
As of March 20, SHS is now providing service and care to all CUIMC students remotely. For important details and to connect with providers and services, please review the CUIMC Student Health Service Operational Changes page, which will be updated frequently. After-hours access remains available for urgent medical or mental health needs. For after-hours support, please call 212-305-3400, option 7.

CSW Live Meditations
CSW will be offering daily live meditations to CUIMC students through Zoom. The password is CSWzen. Check the CSW Mindfulness Meditation page for details and updates. We ask that participants make sure their audio is muted upon entering the meeting room and remains muted for the duration of the practice. CSW Virtual Knitting Circle

CUIMC Knits has gone virtual! CUIMC Knits is a cozy space for all levels of knitters to connect and practice and learn new knitting techniques. Drop in to work on a knitting project—experienced knitters are available for questions. There's no commitment—come as often and stay as long as you'd like. CSW Virtual Pet Therapy

Join the COVID-19 Student Service Corps (CSSC) Mental Health and Wellbeing Committee
The COVID-19 Student Service Corps (CSSC) Mental Health and Wellbeing Committee is one way for us to come together and offer support in the midst of this pandemic. CSSC is a group of students, faculty, and staff who have been working to identify ways for us to support one another, those on the front lines, and those in our communities during this troubling and uncertain time. Coping with the Stress of a Pandemic: A Mental Health Guide for CUIMC Students
Center for Student Wellness, in collaboration with Mental Health Services, has created a mental health guide to help support students during this time of new challenges, transition, and uncertainty. Coping with the Stress of a Pandemic: A Mental Health Guide can be found on the SHS webpage and can also be downloaded as an accessible PDF. We encourage you to take what is helpful and share widely with your colleagues. Please reach out to us with thoughts or questions.

As a reminder, Wellness Appointments are still available to students via phone. Please email studentwellness@cumc.columbia.edu to schedule an appointment. Students can also set up an appointment with a provider from Mental Health Services by making an appointment through the SHS health portal.
