Don’t send that email.
Pause before composing or sending an email. Consider whether or not such a communication is necessary or if the message can wait for a meeting, a phone call, or a later communication to a larger group.
Sometimes, it takes more intention and effort not to send an email than to send it. By making a conscious effort not to add to another’s inbox, you are lightening their cognitive load and demonstrating restraint. Also, if you don’t send an email, you won’t receive a response to that email. Fewer emails sent means fewer emails received.
