The Latest News from the MGCA President

It’s springtime which means perfect weather for getting out to the range for some much needed trigger time. Please remember to follow all of the recommended safety and club rules. It is also important to clean up after yourself and be courteous to other members.  We have added one knife and axe throwing target in the archery range area, please do not shoot this target with arrows. We have also added a 3D deer to the archery range as well. Our Range Master Greg works very hard to keep the range neat, clean and well maintained, please take the time to thank him when you see him. I look forward to seeing many of you at the range! Shoot Often-Shoot Safe!

Range Etiquette Rule of Thumb
If you brought it to the range, then take it when you leave; this includes your waste—targets, hulls, cartridges, etc.
If you did NOT bring it to the range, then do NOT take it with you; this includes wood logs, target stands, other people’s property, etc.

Targets
Make sure you are shooting at the appropriate targets - arrows at archery targets and firearms at firearm targets.
Please do not shoot at or over the berms.

MGCA Hours
The operating hours for MGCA ranges begin 15 minutes AFTER sunrise and end 15 minutes BEFORE sunset.
As you are checking the weather before going to the range, be sure to check the sunrise and sunset times, too. Click on the logo for the link.
Don't forget to display your membership cards and guest passes at ALL times while at the range.
Membership Report
We at the range would like to inform you that the range will remain open to our members during this trying time we find ourselves in.  Being an outdoor range, we have the benefit of our members being able to maintain the CDC guidelines that have been developed to fight this terrible pandemic.  Please go to our website www.midwestgca.com regularly.  If anything changes, we will update it there.
I have been receiving a lot of applications for new and renewal membership that have not included all the needed documentation.  We require a completed application and photocopy of your valid FOID card to accompany your payment.  The current application is available from our website www.midwestgca.com under the membership tab.
At this time our membership count is 1328 with 197 new members.  We have also sold 90 guest passes so far this year.
Guest Passes are available for $100.00 each.  The pass allows you to bring a guest per pass whenever you come to the range.  The pass belongs to you and is to be kept by you.  The guest is your responsibility and should be present with you when you are on the range.
We are working on the online membership option at this time.  There will be an additional cost of $5.00 for each membership, processed online.  This cost is to cover the expense that we incur for online processing.
Pick up your hulls!
Shotgun shooters, please pick up your hulls when you are done on the shotgun range. MGCA does not have any special equipment to pick up the hulls; it is done with the range officer and volunteers spending hours and hours using rakes and wheelbarrows. The more you clean up after yourselves, the more time those taking care of the ranges can spend on maintaining the property, the equipment, the targets, and the backers.
