Please Take Our Community Survey
Every two years, we ask residents, workers and visitors about their NoMa experience to help us better understand the community’s needs. Take the 2020 NoMa Community Survey now to share with us your feelings about neighborhood amenities, safety, cleanliness, events programming, and much more. The survey is only 20 questions and should take less than five minutes. Everyone who completes the survey could win one of the 70 gift cards we’ve purchased from local dining spots – another way we’re supporting local businesses and showing our appreciation for your valuable input!

Join Us May 6 for NoMa Movie Night with Twitter Trivia
Just because we're staying home doesn't mean we can't enjoy the things we love together – like watching movies! Join us on Wednesday, May 6th at 7 PM for our first virtual NoMa Movie Night with Twitter Trivia! We'll be watching Chef (R), starring Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr., which is available on Netflix (currently offering a free 30-day trial) and responding to trivia about the movie on Twitter via @NoMaBID

To make Twitter Movie Night even more fun, we’ll be awarding to the top trivia winners $250 in gift cards, which we’ve purchased from our NoMa restaurant partners, Laos in Town and Red Bear Brewing Company. Both spots will be curating food and beverage specials to add to the fun and festivities. To learn more, follow us on Twitter.
Independent Contractors, Self-Employed Now Eligible for Unemployment Assistance
With many of NoMa’s residents taking part in the gig economy, we wanted to share news that may be relevant if your business or livelihood has been impacted by coronavirus. Mayor Bowser announced that beginning April 24, 2020, freelancers, independent contractors, gig workers and self-employed individuals previously considered ineligible can now apply for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).  To learn if you qualify, click here and email PUA@dc.gov to request updates. Visit our coronavirus resource page as we continue to share new updates to help us navigate these trying times.
New Plantings at Tanner Park
Tanner Park remains closed in accordance with DC’s stay-at-home guidelines, but you can still get out and enjoy the new connection from Harry Thomas Way NE to the Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT).  While you’re there, we hope you enjoy the new trees that were planted along the connection; we’re pleased at how they are leafing out!

And in honor of Arbor Day this month, we’re sharing some tree trivia: The trees featured at Tanner Park are an allee of Jefferson elms (Ulmus americana 'Jefferson'). The Jefferson elms that you can buy today are clones of a specimen planted on the National Mall in the 1930s. According to the Library of Congress, “The National Mall Jefferson Elm is significant because of its unique disease-resist genetic arrangement that has resulted in its longevity in the face of Dutch elm disease. This Jefferson Elm cultivar will help the American elm reestablish itself throughout America’s landscapes.” You can read more about this very DC tree here.
