Greetings from Pine River Minnesota! We are healthy and safely quarantined. We pray this finds you the same.
You may have noticed that this newsletter looks different than it has for the past 6 years. During our time at home, we have been working on updating and changing our website and social media. We still believe the principle of Standing Beside is an important one but to make things clearer, we are leaving the Standing Beside branding behind. Tina has worked on changing it on Facebook and you can see our new Facebook page here. Denise Nelson has been rebuilding our website. You can view it here. All of the Blog posts can still be found there. Denise has also built a website for the Gotel initiative. You can view that here. You will want to visit that to learn more about the initiative. Covid 19 updates from our area of Nigeria. Our state has had less than 10 confirmed cases. Most importantly these cases are from people that were traveling into the state and were tested and quarantined before entering. So effectively Taraba state is Coved 19 free. Please pray for our staff on the ground there in Nigeria. There is a lot of fear and misinformation and they have locked down any nonessential travel between States. Please pray that our staff keeps clear minds, stays healthy, and continues the hard work it is moving forward during this time. They are working hard to finish the remodel of the building that we can do isolation in. Thank you for all your donations toward this project. We have all the funds promised to finish it.
During this time we have purchased a Zoom subscription as it has been a wonderful way to stay connected with our partners in ministry as well as church and bible study. If you have a small group, missions committee, or pastor that is interested in learning more about the Gotel Initiative or possibly partnering with us in ministry, just hit reply to this newsletter and we will contact you to set up a meeting time.
This is a difficult time for all of us and while we wished we could return to Nigeria now we know that God will use this time for His good.
We have had some people who are if a good financial position and will be sending their stimulus check funds to support the work in Nigeria when it comes. If you are in the position to do that, it would be greatly appreciated!
