Bethel Men's Shelter

Our Region is scheduled to serve for the remainder of the year on the second Tuesday of each month. Jester is leading in May, and we have some slots filled. However, we need more HIM to sign up to Q, help prepare food, and serve. Please consider serving our community at Bethel this year. Sign up is here.

Weekly Devotional

Good morning brothers, here is the third devotional in Philippians. I am praying that the men in
our region continue to use this time to spur on their relationship with Christ.

Philippians 4

For context, see previous post.

Capping off the letter to the church of Philippi, Paul ends with a few words of encouragement mixed in with his closing entreats. At times in his life, Paul must have felt the temptation to not trust God’s plan. It wasn’t always filled with beautiful moments of conversion. Rather, he spent a significant portion of his ministry traveling long miles by foot, or, in the case of this letter, in jail.

Yet, with all of these circumstances, Paul uses the last chapter of his letter to implore the Church of Philippi to trust wholeheartedly in God’s plan, to “not be anxious about anything” (Philippians 4:6). When anxiety takes hold in our lives, the tendency is to stop relying on God. Doubt floods our minds, and questioning God’s goodness takes over.

I am not sure if you have or are struggling with anxiety. Maybe a broken relationship keeps you worried about what the future holds? Maybe you are anxious about your job security, or maybe you have even recently lost your job? Maybe a loved one is rebelling against God? Or, maybe you feel anxious about your own walk with the Lord? I encourage you brothers, whatever the situation is, go to the Lord in prayer! Not only is He sovereign in all of your circumstances, but He desires to hear our every request. Let his peace wash over you in both your mind (thoughts) and your heart (feelings) (Philippians 4:6-7).

April Word of The Month

The word of month for April is "Assurance"

In the midst of this pandemic, assurance is a rare commodity. With people’s health and comfort
threatened by the virus, Americans flock to the grocery stores in panic, snatching up every
product they might need. Simultaneously, the markets reflect the panic with a 30% drop, the
government dumps $2 trillion into the economy, and the Federal Reserve lowers the target
interest rate to 0-.25%. How can a virus bring a nation – rather the world – to its knees? Read More

Weekly Q Source Topic - MEETING (Q1.12)

The Public Manifestation Of Faith

Faith is best Accelerated in the company of others

However he seeks answers to the WHAT-WHAT, the HIM does not go about it alone. He recognizes that a man who believes in the efficacy of Prayer and seeks Truth through Study must externally proclaim his allegiance to the promulgator of both. He does this through Meeting, the public manifestation of his Faith.

There are logistical obstacles to Meeting. A man has to get his family up in time, fed and in the car. He then has to park and find a place in the pew without killing one of his children first. Read More.
