Since we won't be scheduling any group clean-up activities for the foreseeable future, I'm especially grateful for the trail users I've heard from recently who have taken it upon themselves to pick up litter and report trail conditions.
We are NOT asking folks to patrol the trail for litter, but IF YOU CHOOSE TO HELP, here are some important suggestions:
When heading out for a walk, pay attention to physical distancing;
Take a plastic grocery or trash bag and don’t forget gloves (consider washable gloves);
Please take back any collected litter to your trash for disposal; and
Don’t do anything you’re even remotely uncomfortable with!
The DNR has posted signs at trailheads providing guidance for physical distancing. Click on the image to read the sign.
You can also help by reporting any conditions that need more attention (like large amounts of litter, trees or limbs down, or other concerns -- especially safety concerns). Please report, using my email address below, if you see any situations that need attention. DNR has essential personnel available to help us address matters affecting safety like downed trees, potholes or erosion.
Finally, keep in mind that conditions on the trail change without notice, so can mandated restrictions and recommendations. We'll do our best to keep you up to date.
