Join Nonprofit Montgomery for our weekly virtual meeting with Montgomery County and nonprofit leaders on Wednesday, April 29 at 11am. This will be an opportunity to hear from our officials and receive updates on the local covid-19 response.

You Should Consult an Attorney
(un)Employment Law in the COVID Era


For many of us, this is our first foray into questions like: "Do I furlough? Do I lay-off? Do I freeze pay?" These are difficult staffing choices with real consequences to your people and your budget. This session will cover what you need to know to navigate these tough decisions.  

Employment lawyers Wendy Fischman and Isaac Mamaysky, Partners at Potomac Law Group will answer questions and discuss:
  • Furloughs, layoffs, salary cuts, and pay freezes
  • Unemployment benefits, including expanded benefits under the CARES Act

Coffee with a Fundraising Consultant - for NM Members


You are invited to join Alicia Alexion for an informal question and answer session. Come get some sage advice on Friday, May 1. After this session, Alicia will offer select one-on-one consultations for nonprofits seeking to delve a bit deeper.

Questions may include: 
  • How often and in what way should I be communicating with donors during this time?
  • How do I solicit for contributions if my organization is not currently providing services during Covid-19?
  • Should I reschedule my event or postpone it?
  • How can I leverage my board of directors right now?
  • What is most productive use of this time if we cannot be asking for money?
