We're In This Together.

Our world is changing as this crisis continues and higher education and college athletics will not be immune to that. While we are all faced with the uncertainty that the future holds, the difficulties we now face also present an opportunity for all of us to contribute towards the greater good at home, at work, and in our communities around the world.

These unusual circumstances have certainly been disruptive to everyone. But we also recognize that the pain cuts differently for the seniors in the Class of 2020, especially those spring sport student-athletes who saw their final chance to represent Wellesley in the athletic arena taken away in an abrupt turn. Despite the disappointment and heartbreak that has come with these circumstances, I encourage you to reflect on their careers and to celebrate everything that our seniors have accomplished. While we could not cheer for them in competition this spring, we should not forget the enthusiasm, commitment, and pride that they have exuded over their time at Wellesley.

Their efforts brought family, friends, alumnae, coaches and teammates together as one community. In a culture that values results, we should not lose the lessons that accompany the process. Each of our student-athletes has gained lessons in teamwork, resilience and leadership and these attributes cannot be canceled, postponed or quarantined. Regardless of what tomorrow holds, that is something worth celebrating.

Be well,

Director of Athletics
Chair of Physical Education and Recreation

SPRING SPORTS SENIORS

Wellesley Crew Class of 2020

"As a class, this has been one of the most important classes in my 15 years. They have led by example, with humor, integrity, passion, conviction and dedication to our greater cause. What is their legacy? They have created a team where we value integrity, inclusion, courage, trust and gratitude." Read more here.

Wellesley Golf Class of 2020

"Ryan and Olivia were leaders on our team, both serving as team captains and as SAAC representatives. They continued to improve in each year on the course but they were also positive role models for each player on the team off it. The golf team wishes Ryan and Olivia all the best in their future pursuits. They will be missed." Read more here.

Wellesley Lacrosse Class of 2020

"As individuals, they masterfully balanced school, work, internships, leadership positions, and athletics with grace. Though their careers were cut short, Marika, Maya, Dee Dee, Sabrina, and Hannah have truly left their mark and it does not go unnoticed." Read more here.

Wellesley Softball Class of 2020

"Our Blue Softball class of 2020 is certainly going to be missed. We are devastated for them, that their season was cut short and that they don't have an opportunity to play in their last season. This class has experienced many challenges during their four years and have triumphed through it all. We love them and they will be dearly missed."  Read more here.

Wellesley Tennis Class of 2020

"As good as they are as tennis players, they are even better people. We are all excited to see what the future holds for Selina, Tristan and Korina. From the bottom of our hearts we love you Seniors. Good luck and Go Blue!" Read more here.

Wellesley Track & Field Class of 2020

"These seniors’ dynamic personalities are as varied as academic interests, the states they hail from, and the countries in which they studied abroad. Through this blend of experiences and backgrounds they enthusiastically brought event groups and class years together with a unified work ethic and commitment to each other and the team. They welcomed first-years, picked up teammates that were down, put the team before themselves, and led by example." Read more here.
