Dear reader,

By now you may have reached your crisis media saturation point. As important as it is for some media outlets to continue issuing warnings, reporting case numbers, and offering safety tips, it is equally important for others to pivot toward the future—and push back against fatalism.

Given the scale of the current crisis, it’s impossible to know what the new normal will look like. But the stories we tell matter. They will shape our vision of the future.

That’s where Anthropocene magazine comes in. We founded Anthropocene in 2017 to gather together the world’s most creative writers, designers, scientists, and entrepreneurs to explore how we can create a sustainable Human Age we actually want to live in.

We now have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reset the economy. Anthropocene remains uniquely focused on elevating the debate by providing a steady diet of scientific and technological ingenuity from a wide range of different voices and topics—from how biodiversity conservation and human health are intertwined to the decarbonization of modern supply chains.

But as a nonprofit journalism outlet, we can’t do this work alone. That’s why I’m announcing the beginning of our first-ever membership campaign today.

Here’s how our membership program works: In exchange for a tax-deductible gift of your choosing, we provide you with exclusive benefits while continuing to report on the latest science and innovations in the field.

This funding model will sound familiar to those of you who support NPR or PBS stations. Just like public media, we provide mission-driven journalism without a paywall. And all donations go straight to our work—not to shareholders or corporate owners.

We’re asking everyone who believes in our work to support us by becoming a member today.
Will you become a member?
YES, I'LL JOIN TODAY!
I promise we’ll make you proud of your investment.

Thank you,

Kathryn Kohm
Anthropocene Editor-in-Chief
