#Lights4NovaScotia: Candlelighting Vigil

Screenshot from the candlelight vigil video

Last Monday evening, United Church members across the country joined together in lighting candles and sending prayers to the families of the victims of the Nova Scotia shooting. This video is a moving collection of the photos people posted to their social media profiles; thank you to all those who participated.

On Wednesday, April 22, a virtual prayer vigil was hosted by Region 15; you can watch the recording here.

Webinars This Week

Congregational finances continue to be a major concern during the COVID-19 pandemic. These weekly webinar sessions will be used to share the latest news and updates affecting congregational finances. Join CFO Erik Mathieson and Clyde Harris, a regular facilitator in our Webinars for Church Treasurers series, each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. EDT / 4:00 p.m. PDT for up-to-the-minute information on wise ways to manage the financial impact the pandemic is having on our congregations.

The next Congregational Finances webinar is tomorrow, Wednesday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. EDT / 4:00 p.m. PDT. A new recorded webinar for treasurers, "How to Create and Issue a Record of Employment via the Internet," is also now available to watch here.

Find out more at United in Learning.

This week's webinar on Congregational Programming During the Pandemic will focus on Funerals and Grief. Rev. Stephen Fetter will be joined by a funeral director and a grief counsellor to help us explore what's possible in helping grieving families during this time, and what options we might want to consider when a family asks us for help. We'll look at "the rules," and the ways we can support families in the midst of this most difficult time. You are encouraged to bring your experience, and your questions. Find out more and register.

All of these webinars are available on United in Learning in the recordings section.
