Community News
Introducing our new Executive Director!
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Kari L. Jordan is the new Executive Director of The Carpentries, effective 16 April, 2020. This announcement comes after a rigorous international search conducted by Marcum LLP and members of the search committee (Karen Cranston, Amy Hodge and Elizabeth Wickes) appointed by the Executive Council of The Carpentries.
Here’s a message from Kari:
Serving The Carpentries has been my honor for nearly four years. As Executive Director, I will continue to work alongside our Core Team and community to advance our mission. I am committed to our core values, and will continue to put the interests of this incredible community above my own. My goal is to empower our Core Team and community members to reach their full potential, and further position The Carpentries as the leading inclusive community teaching computing and data skills. Thank you for trusting me in this capacity. We have work to do!

Organising Online Carpentries Workshops
As The Carpentries Core Team continues to transition to offering online workshops, the Workshop Administration Team would like to share additional information pertaining to Instructors to help you prepare for your workshops. Information shared in this blog post is a supplement to the Recommendations for Teaching Carpentries Workshops Online. Most importantly, we want to update Instructors on a few logistical workflows we have changed to support online workshops. Please read this blogpost for all of the updates.
Apply to Be a Carpentries Maintainer!
Applications for Maintainer Onboarding are open! We are welcoming our newest cohort of Lesson Maintainers, who ensure that our curricula stay up-to-date. Our priority is ensuring that all of our lessons have active Maintainers. New and existing Maintainers are welcome to apply via this form by 30 April 2020, midnight your local time. In an effort to support all learners and our community in adjusting to the unique challenges of online workshops, we now offer cloud instances to help with installation.

The CarpentryCon University of Wisconsin-Madision Task Force is wrapping up its planning. The Carpentries Core Team is extremely proud of the work and effort put into planning the in-person event!
The CarpentryCon @ Home Planning Committee had their first meeting and started planning for the @ Home exciting event. The Committee is really excited and will be meeting weekly to develop a program to present to you. Stay tuned for more information and sign up for the CarpentryCon mailing list.
