2020 International Dance Day Greeting!

WCD is among many artists all over the world to have their performances cancelled due to COVID-19. We thank all those who purchased tickets and converted their ticket purchase to a donation. Your donation will help WCD to continue our work next season.

WCD’s work is a reflection of our community and is vital to the development of the form in Winnipeg. WCD is part of our collective history of dance in Manitoba, and continues to serve the community, year after year, for 55 years.

We sincerely appreciate the support of our patrons during this unprecedented time.

Thank you to: Shivaun Berg, Jean Paul Cloutier, Darrell Cole, Alexandra Elliott, Wanda Farian, Andrus Gorden, Harry Ingleby, Frances Koncan, Joan Linklater, Nelsia Malenchak, Marcela Mangarelli, Claire McArton, Geri McGrath, Ewa Morphy, Blair Philpott, Karen Stach, Lindsay Stewart Glor, Ruth Thomson, Deirdre Tomkins, Libby Yager, Tannis Zimmer, and Jolene Bailie.

This season, WCD invested in maintenance and equipment upgrades at The Rachel Browne Theatre. We are grateful for a Strengthen grant from The Manitoba Arts Council and a donation from The Asper Foundation to help us maintain our beloved Rachel Browne Theatre.

Our improvements for 2019-2020 include: the purchase and implementation of 20 second hand lights, purchasing new cable and electrical plugs, replacing a broken ladder, repairing our neon sign, the cleaning and maintenance of our lighting instruments in the theatre, improvements to our sound system, re-installing program sound for renters, re-stocking disposables, and having new removable window plugs made for the studio so our dancers can enjoy the sunlight during rehearsals.

WCD is committed to staying at our current residence and maintaining The Rachel Browne Theatre.

We are now taking theatre bookings for the 2020-2021 season.

WCD recently engaged Hugh Conacher to update our House Plot. At the same time, our Magic Sheet, Channel Hookup, and Inventory documents were also updated.

New for renters:
- WCD now has blank House Plot drawings of The Rachel Browne Theatre available on our website to assist renters who may not be using our house plot.
- WCD provides a new Technical Questionnaire to renters to help renters prepare for their theatre booking.

Our venue is located in the heart of Winnipeg’s historic Exchange District, and could be the ideal location for your next event or function. The Rachel Browne Theatre is available to rent for dance, theatre and music performances, as well as workshops, lectures, classes, and fundraisers. The theatre is outfitted with a deluxe seating system, a sprung floor, a production booth, two dressing rooms, as well as lighting and sound equipment.
