Due to COVID19, ALL Illuminating Women in person gatherings and events are postponed. We are now meeting virtually.
In order to keep with our mission of empowering, encouraging, and educating women, we will host once a week a 30 minute Lunch & Learn with one of our professional members via Zoom to help us keep up on learning and growing personally and professionally. We also will host via Zoom once a week a 15 minute Coffee Break Chat for the opportunity to touch base to learn something special to help us during these difficult times. We will be announcing these events with the link on our Illuminating Women, LLC FB page, on Instagram, our Illuminating Women FB Private Community Page, and on LinkedIn. I will be hosting a 3-part Mastermind class on learning the art of negotiating using the book by Chris Voss, “Never Split the Difference”. We will want to build and strengthen strong negotiating skills in our post COVID-19 new economy for our bills, contracts, and other business dealings. Peruvian Hearts
At Conquer Peru, we make an effort to connect people to amazing organizations during their time in Peru. One powerful organization is the nonprofit Peruvian Hearts, which empowers young women through education, mentorship and community leadership.
Peruvian Hearts was founded by Ana Dodson when she was 11 years old. Dodson, who was adopted as a baby from Cusco, visited Peru over a decade later in 2003. She was moved by the extreme poverty she saw and made it her life’s mission to improve conditions for other children in her home country—to change the world, “one heart a time.”
To help end poverty and gender inequality, Peruvian Hearts supports three different girls’ homes (hogares) in Cusco and in the Sacred Valley. Currently, only 36 percent of girls in rural Peru graduate from secondary school. The organization offers financial scholarships, supportive peer groups, empowerment and leadership opportunities, access to local mentors, daily English classes and more. Scholars in the program have continued their education in vocational institutes, colleges and universities.
The organization also creates a way out of generational poverty by fighting to meet basic needs in its Nutrition for Change program. More than 18 percent of Peruvian children under 5 suffer from chronic under-nutrition and 37 percent have anemia. The NFC program give hundreds of school children a healthy lunch and a multivitamin every day so they can focus and attend classes.

What a difference one month can make. Just a few weeks ago my thoughts were of spring, and Easter dinner, and leading you on a future trip to my beautiful hometown of Sezze, Italy. Now the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19 has changed the way we live. But even a global virus does not change some basic truths:
- It’s necessary to reach out and help those in need.
- It’s important to keep ourselves healthy with good food.
- It’s a great time to support small businesses wherever you can, especially when they can reduce stress.
Pizzeria Claudia is a family-owned restaurant in my hometown of Sezze, Italy, and now it’s a family in need during this crisis.

Dear, Illuminating Women 2020 Conference Attendees.
Out of an abundance of caution in consideration of current events, we are postponing this weekend's conference for Illuminating Women: Building Bridges for a Bolder and Braver Future on March 6-7, 2020. We came to this decision in consultation with the Illuminating Women Advisory Circle as we hear the news, see the widespread concern and witness so many other events being postponed and canceled. We have also received inquiries from concerned speakers, vendors, and attendees.
We realize that some of you may be concerned about attending a large gathering at this time and we want to honor that. We want this event to be a wonderful, enriching and safe space for women to learn and grow together. Please stay tuned as we continue to monitor the situation and consider the various options for a new date. We will also be working with our speakers on this. We anticipate rescheduling for some time this fall of 2020. We promise to keep you updated and share our new plans as soon as we have them!
If you can hold onto your ticket, there will be a special perk for those who do. More on this later. Please forgive us, we have so many moving parts to deal with in this moment.
