A new 20 MW heating plant is being constructed in Haapajärvi
in the area of the current Rantakatu plant.
Installation work for the boiler delivery of the new bioheat plant of Haapajärven Lämpö has begun on April 21st, and MAB Powertec’s project manager Niko Raami and engineering manager Pasi Mäenpää were on site when the installations began this week. Janne Alpua, CEO of Haapajärven Lämpö, was also following the installation work, and he is satisfied with the progress of the project: There are always challenges in installations and projects in general, but they have been overcome and the project is progressing well on schedule.”

The MAB Life Cycle View tool is now
available for plants!

The Life Cycle View tool, developed by MAB Powertec, is now available for the life cycle management of plants and strategic decision-making. “We wanted to develop a tool that allows us to support our clients throughout the lifecycle of their plants and contribute to a longer operating time for their plants. In this way, we can also help our clients reduce the effect they have on the environment and operate more efficiently," says Anna Pääkkönen, leading expert at MAB Powertec.

MAB Life Cycle View is a browser-based tool whose various features can be customized according to the client’s plant. Features include e.g. color-coded regulations’ monitoring, plant emission control and monitoring, economic performance indicators, as well as weekly updated fuel prices. The various features of the tool give a comprehensive picture of the state of your plant.

The tool is designed to be used by heating and power plant companies to support monitoring and planning. It was important for Niko Raami, project manager at MAB Powertec, to take the client’s perspective into account when designing the tool: “The tool was developed together with our clients and we wanted it to be both simple to use and comprehensive in content. In this way, the company’s management receives the necessary information about the plant in one view.”

MAB Powertec encourages employees to take care of their well-being

The balance between work and relaxation is important in everyday life, and MAB Powertec’s wellness team is constantly working on developing this. We are committed to taking care of both our clients and our employees, and one of our goals is to do a variety of activities together alongside our work. This spring, MAB Powertec introduced a wellness bonus designed to encourage employees to take care of their well-being, both physically and mentally.

The wellness team leader Niko Raami has been developing the well-being of employees since last year: “I have now worked with MAB Powertec for about 1.5 years, and from the very beginning I noticed that the company has an active atmosphere and they are willing to invest in the well-being of employees. The new wellness bonus has actually been a rather natural development when the wellness team considered how they could encourgae employees to take care of their well-being even better. Money is not the only incentive, but at the same time we have tried to come up with the most enjoyable activities and events to participate in together.” Many activities are included in the wellness bonus, for example jogging together during working hours, cycling/walking to work, monthly sports and cultural events with employees and support for participation fees in sport events, such as running, skiing, cycling.

The latest challenge has been to maintain the well-being of every employee even when working from home during these corona months, and our goal has been focus on our well-being even during this time. “For example, we have continued our morning runs remotely via a telephone conference. In addition, we have emphasized the importance of work ergonomics when working from home, and employees have been encouraged to take any tools and technology from the office. During remote coffee breaks, we have shared tips on, for example, how to assemble a DIY standing work station with items found at home,” says Elisa Pekkola, a member of the MAB wellness team. “From the perspective of a new employee, I have seen that MAB Powertec considers well-being issues extremely important even under normal circumstances, but especially during these exceptional times special attention has been paid to our well-being.”
