The Fast Tracked Product Development phase of ProtoAtlantic continues in 2020, with several international start-ups testing their maritime technologies free of charge at a number of world-renowned test facilities in Ireland, Scotland, Portugal and Spain.

Press Release: ProtoAtlantic Launches Bespoke Stakeholder Platform 

The ProtoAtlantic project has today launched a bespoke online stakeholder platform, which provides an environment for discussion through an online forum specifically aimed at stakeholders in the marine sector, and an area for sharing relevant project and blue economy documentation. In addition to this, the platform also provides exclusive training content for marine start-ups and links related to funding. The ProtoAtlantic Platform provides a repository for documents to be shared and downloaded by marine stakeholders, and a collaborative space for communication and interaction. This activity is focused on providing SMEs, entrepreneurs, researchers and innovation community members (investors etc.) with a reference point to have quick and unified access to a high value set of resources.

SWEL Test at LiR as part of ProtoAtlantic's Fast Tracked Product Development 

Sea Wave Energy Ltd. tested their technology at the LiR National Ocean Test Facility in Cork, Ireland, between 21st- 25th October, as part of the Fast Tracked Product Development phase of the ProtoAtlantic project. Sea Wave Energy Ltd. are a UK-based company founded by Adamos Zakheos. During the intensive testing in Cork, SWEL successfully completed its tests and obtained invaluable data and readings from its WEC model, the Waveline Magnet 10.

INESC TEC Host the Third ProtoAtlantic Regional Stakeholder Event in Porto as part of the 9th Business2Sea Event

ProtoAtlantic partner INESC TEC hosted the third regional ProtoAtlantic Blue Growth Policy Round Table on 11th - 13th November at the 9th edition of Business2Sea. Business2Sea is an event dedicated to the sea cluster, and was held at the Alfândega Porto Congress Centre. At the 9th edition of the event, INESC TEC highlighted the importance and the potential of TEC4SEA infrastructure, a unique and pioneering platform in Europe, which was designed to support research, development and testing of maritime robotics, telecommunications and detection technologies for monitoring and operations in the marine environment.

Technopôle Brest-Iroise Host Regional Maritime Investment Workshop

Following the Campus Mondial de la Mer Assembly on the 12th December 2019, Technopôle Brest-Iroise hosted a demo-day/investment workshop dedicated to securing funds for entrepreneurs from the maritime sector. Raising capital is a key factor influencing the success of start-ups. ProtoAtlantic, through Technopôle Brest-Iroise, hosted a specialised investment workshop aimed at maritime start-ups, to address these concerns. The workshop was run by Mer Invest, an investment fund launched by the Crédit Maritime bank.
