Bristol & South Glos Carers

A roundup of COVID-19 support

Do you sometimes feel lonely stuck at home?

We know it is harder to connect with others and take time for yourself at the moment. A chat with one of our befrienders could help. A regular phone call will give you a chance to take a break, check in and have a chat about whatever is on your mind.

This service is open to anyone who would like to chat. Maybe you feel okay most of the time. Maybe it depends on the day. Whatever your situation, we are here for you. Our befrienders are available and eager to connect.

“It’s great to have someone outside the family to talk to. I look forward to it all week.”

Take some time out. Don't bottle it up. Get in touch.

Online activity groups

Would you like to take a short time out for yourself and 'meet' other carers? Our monthly activity groups for adult carers are now being run online. We run 4 groups: theatre club, lunch club, book group and craft group. Limited spaces available.

Dementia carers

The Dementia Wellbeing Service offers support and advice for dementia carers.

Their new Emergency Central Resource concentrates on a wide range of resources, from the practical to the medical. They can signpost to food and medical supplies, emotional support and washing and laundry service deliveries.

Register for a Carers Emergency Card

It’s never been more important to have a Carers Emergency Card. If you don’t have one, make sure you register for one now. It’s also important that your details are up-to-date. Ring the number on the front of your card to update your details.

Some carers have asked how they can prove they are providing care when taking essential journeys. Local police have advised that – although they are unlikely to be asked – a Carers Emergency Card would be sufficient proof.
