This is the latest of our twice-weekly newsletters for staff about the work underway to ensure the continuity of Teaching, Learning and Assessment for our students during the Covid-19 pandemic. Today we focus predominantly on the universal approach we are taking to managing marks and Exam Boards in the coming months, and we share a range of FAQs in response to our new guidance on the deferral of assessments.

Managing Marks and Exam Boards

Our collective focus continues to be on graduating and progressing our students during this time where we need to make considerable adjustments to our provision and are working under a complex set of constraints. Yesterday the major summer exam season started with alternative assessments taking place online. Thank you for all the ways in which you have contributed to this.

The next steps in the assessment process are marking and moderation, collecting and confirming marks, and making progression and award decisions.

Today we are setting out how we will take a collective approach to the progression and graduation of our students, and the steps involved in delivering this.

As part of this approach, we have published a timeline of key dates up to the start of the next academic year.

We will follow up in Friday’s staff newsletter with further details on how we will support the calculation of postgraduate taught degree outcomes. Starting from next week, we will also publish a series of practical guidance notes on running Pre-Board and Exam Board meetings. These will all be published together in the new Marks and Exam Boards section of the Teaching Continuity site and highlighted in the staff newsletters.

FAQs on Deferral of Assessment

Following the publication of guidance on deferring assessments, we have collated the frequently asked questions received in response. We have added these questions and our responses to the staff guidance on deferrals.

Tomorrow's student newsletter

Last week we moved to send student newsletters once per week on Wednesdays. Tomorrow, we will remind students of the resources available to support them as they begin their alternative assessments in place of summer examinations.

A reminder that, as students receive their own newsletters, often with different topics or information, we would ask that the staff newsletter, including content and links to relevant webpages, is not shared with students. Instead, please visit the MyWarwick pages and use the content and links directly from there to reshare with students.

Queries?

We have launched the Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) Helpdesk as a single place for TLA-related queries to central teams during the Covid-19 situation. We have a new, dedicated team managing the Helpdesk to ensure your query is resolved sooner and always gets to the right specialist team when needed.
